Help 3 week old plants stunted growth and yellowing leaves

2nd time growing last year just started some seeds on window sill and transplanted outside and turned out great for what it was. This year Im starting them under a 2ft T5 florescent light for seedlings and they have seemed to stall. I wait for soil to dry before watering 3-4 days and Temp is 72 consistently, light cycle is 18-6 and plants are about 3 to 4 inches away from light. The plants were started in nute free bag soil with perlite mixed in, in a red solo cup with holes for drainage. Any help is appreciated Thanks.

You might need to give them a pot up to a half gallon size pot

Looks like they need 'N'.
After 3 weeks they are probably ready for some light nute's - like 1/4 strength.
Have you knocked one out of its cup to see how the roots are doing?

I agree with all the above... tap her out of that cup and look at how badly the roots are wrapping... rootbound looks exactly like a nitrogen deficiency, but the solution is to get her in more soil because feeding her at this point could really stall her out.

Thanks guys ive got some nutes on the way should be here tomorrow and i havent checked to see if they are root bound didnt cross my mind that they could be already but i check and update

weeds will surprise you sometimes... fast little buggers.

They could be transplanted now, but they are not root bound yet. I think a transplant with proper feeding is the solution.

I transplanted them to much a larger container but they still seem to be growing slowly the yellowing has stopped but they have shown no signs of new growth yet. Should i start adding some nutrients?

not until they are thriving... nutrients are not medicine, they are vitamins for healthy plants.

Sorry its been a while since I updated but the girls really took off nicely. I moved them to 5 gal buckets about a week and half ago and placed them outside in the greenhouse and they have just exploded. Thanks to everyone that helped me out. Let me know if you guys keep wanting updates

You gotta put your lights higher. It could be frying your leaves. Just cuz the temp at 72 the light putting way more heat being right above it. Invest in a led light

Welcome to the group, Meadows.

I have seen examples of light burn and wind burn on some of my plants and the color on the two cotyledons and the first set of leaves is similar. However, if it was burn from the lights then the top leaves should also show the "light burn" areas. The original poster was also growing under 2 foot T5 lights and whether fluorescent or LED the lights would have to be within inches to start overheating the leaves.
