Harvest help from the experts

Hi Everyone,

I'm in the 8th week of Flowering, and I was wondering if there is someone that can tell me when I can approximately harvest it.

She's not ready yet, (1 or maybe 2) weeks left would be my 2 cents.

What does the breeder list for the flowering time?

She's yet to bulk up, you'll notice the pistils will brown (unless foxtailing) with most plants near the end. At that point watch the trichomes for the level of amber that you want.

Whenever you want to, lol, it's your plant. If you're looking for peak potency / maximum THC(a), harvest when the highest percentage of flower (not leaf) trichomes have cloudy/milky heads. Which won't, of course, be 100%, because they weren't all formed at the same time and, therefore, are of varying ages. If you feel the need, you may harvest part of a plant at a time.

Ok, thank you so much. I went and check on the breeder list, and for my Green Gelato, the flowering time is from 8 to 10 weeks. As I said this is my 8th week. I just fed it this morning and I was hoping for Monday I would have put the plant in a dark room for 36 hr. But now I think I should wait another bit for bulking up. I just can't wait to smoke it. :lot-o-toke:

Good morning nicol :ciao:
My rule of thumb is never harvest white pistils.
When she is finished flowering and building for you her white pistils will turn red and crinkle in .
She will slow right down on her nutrient uptake as well.
Then you know flowering is finished.
Once they are red check the tric's on the Buds.
Clear/ cloudy energetic feeling.
Cloudy/ amber relaxed feeling.
Beautiful garden my friend.
Don't rush.

Thank you @Bill284

I have read many of your comments under threads, and I usually follow what you say. Anyway, I just wanted to know what you guys think about how many weeks are left from Harvesting. That was all.

IMHO the breeder estimates of when they're supposed to be done are wildly optimistic, at best a SWAG (scientific wild ass guess). The plant will tell you when it's done, watch the pistils and the trichomes.

Here you go, surprisingly accurate flowering period length estimation:

You got another couple of weeks but may well suggest following the breeders guide lines with present indications from pic's viewed.

Mmm many good replies with a good old fashion twist thrown in for good measures :)

I'd guess at 3 ish weeks.
But pistils are the key.

Wow That's game-changing now. I will be using it. Thank you

Hey, @Fuzzy Duck I hope you are well. Thank you for the recommendation. I will follow the breeder. Today I had to chop some of the little popcorn that I didn't chop at the beginning of flowering because it's a waste of energy for the plant, and also I want to smoke it. Can't wait for it anymore :bong:

:) @nicol, always a curve ball to be thrown in with regards to pop corn bud !

Whilst there is no harm in the sneak preview on what is to come from a quick snip of pop corn fluff !

But the old saying another persons waste is another persons treasure :green_heart:

1. I trim off the pop corn bud when harvesting bag it up & freeze in till I have enough to make canna butter.

2. As above & save up for bubble bag hash along with any trimmings.

A lil fuzzy moment to ponder over.

@nicol just a lil fuzzy bump :green_heart:

How are your plants doing ?

Mmm pondering over the nearly 10 week mark & near ripening.

Hey, @Fuzzy Duck thank you for reaching out. I hope you are well. I just took some pictures this morning, and even though I know that the plant is not there yet unfortunately today is her last day. In half an hour she will go to sleep for 36 hrs. I have to move out of my apartment, and I don't have much time left and can't really go around with the full plant :laughtwo:

Fuzzy would be happy with the end results :green_heart:
Now the baby is in the jar... I didn't get too much from that plant, around 50 grams total. The weird thing is that the humidity level is around 56 and if I close the lid does not go up, I'm trying to open the lid and place the jar near the humidifier to go up with the humidity, but as soon as I close the lid it goes down. Where do you think that I did wrong? Maybe the drying?

Hi Nicol,

Would not think that you have done anything wrong with the drying process and now just set it aside for a month or two to cure in the glass jar. I have never measured humidity but do prefer curing it with a little more moisture in the buds rather than bone dry and only had a few problems drying but none in the curing phase.
