Hand trimming vs a tumbler?

I am new to growing. I am seeing several ways to effectively trim bud. Hand trim, or use one of several tumbling techniques out there. The tumbling method is intriguing..... Has anyone used it?? Looks like it could save me from arthritis!!!! Serious. And time savings. I am a home grower

Is there conversations on this comparison on the forum?

May be some threads on it here somewhere, I can't think of any off the top of my head. I know technology is ever changing but think a lot of the commercial growers still hand trim, as it's still better quality and less waste than any of the automated methods out there. But yeah I hear you on saving yourself from pain as my hands are a mess from 10 years in a Lumber Mill and another 20 years being a blue collar dog on other various jobs. I just do a little at a time (few ounces) or get some help versus harvesting all my plants at the same time (or the whole plant same day in some cases). Might try a site search and see what pops up for threads on it, as may be some discussions on it already but not any that I recall recently.

Appreciate the reply. I’m torn. I look at a big fat bud and am admiring my work over the last 5 months (outdoor grow) and I do not wanna see the trichomes torn away from the sugar leaves, BUT I realize I have a butt Load of it from 5 plants (only harvested one so far).

I was planning on taking the remainder that stays in the bucket and do the dry-ice keif on the same day since I’d pick out all the buds. I’d use the keif for edibles

Ii am a novice gardener myself and after a few years of hand trimming I had to step it up just to much time in proper hand trimmed. I purchased a hand trimmer 4 years ago, a big bowl that you hand crank the handle and it spins, a blade under the grill cuts the leaves off as well as the very tiny flowers as my sticks are bare. cut off the big leaves put it in the spinner and it is a perfect shaved flower, which I find it hard to believe that you can trim that fine, some will argue. but trim more than a couple you know. There are masters at hand trimming not me. I cherish that trimmer it was about $200.00 at the time. Just went and looked at it and the box no name.

I've used one...and still have it

Kinda forgot about it...lol

It's great when u have LOTS to trim
Wish I had used it when I just cut down 3 plants

Thing is, with the trimmings, it gathers in the bowl, so easy to use for hash or oils

Not sure if more trics fall off or not

I do like it. May do some dry tumble on some Golden Tiger I just harvested
