GR's 5 Plant Vertical Grow Winter 19/20

Thanks for stopping by El,

I run a 4x4 and rather my grows are vertical or horizontal my yield is about the same. 24 to 27 zips per run.
In a scrog or a screen grow I am not able to remove the plants to work on them so the grow is harder on me. I am 72 and don't move as well as I used to.
In my Vertical grows I run 5 plants but my footprint increases from 16 sqft to around 25 sqft, each screen is 5 sqft +/-.

Put one lamp vertical yesterday, was getting to shaded on the lower parts of the plants. Not sure when I will add the 2nd, upper lamp, depends on growth. Added a third water time to the cycles, will be adjusting times as needed.
Just prior to adding the vertical lamp.

Good veg growth, three irrigation cycles per day, 1:40 each cycles, about 1.5 to 2 gallons DTW.
Going to give them a week or so to recover and see what growth I get, would like to do a pre flower trim in about two weeks and begin flower a week or so after trim.

Will give them another week or two nad make the decision on beginning flower.

After the top lamp reach glow I notice it was not as bright as the lower lamp. Shut it down and switched the lamps, put the lower in the upper and vice versa. It was still not as bright as the 2nd 315. Had one of my two Nanolux 315W ballast go out last grow so I purchased an Xtrasun 315W ballast. I have about 4 lamps of varying age so I swapped it out and that lamp was not as bright either. Got to thinking it might be my Nanolux ballast, but I switched out the lamp with one of my other lamps. Well this one is as bright so it must of been the lamps.
Here is both working.

Update:
Day 36 of 24/7

Well checked the lamps this am and all is well so it was a bad lamp, at least now I know which lamps are bad so I can dispose of them.
Switched to 4 run cycles, 100 seconds each, 6 hours apart, getting decent runoff. Today I refilled the rez with 15 gallons of new nute solution.removed 5 gallons added Great White, did a mini flush and got about 2.5 gallons runoff.

The cooling fan under the lamps died yesterday, started squiling very loud and just as I got to the tent it just totally stopped and died. I have a small 6" under the lamps now and heading into town soon to pick up a new 12".
Other than that all is well here in Trapland, just burned a big one and Watching the River Run.

Today's worksheet.
20191229_094016.jpg

Will be bumping Canna A&B to 3 ml this week, been running 2.5 which gives me right at 250 ppm, going to 300 ppm for a week or two then bump it to 350 ppm for flower.

Made up a new rez today, 693 ppm, 5.82 pH.
Did a little SC to a few tops on the AP and one of the Triple Cheese, trying to get all plant close to same height prior to flip.

Back in the tent.

Decided not to wait any longer to start flower, do not want what happened in the fall of 18'. Those plants got way out of control, outgrew the lamps.
So yesterday the start of the new decade we started these ladies in flower. Yesterday and today.

Let see how this plays out!

Plants closing in on the lamp, going to be pulling them from the tent early this next week to tie them back some, move them back from the lamp a bit and raise the lamps just a bit.

They really need a trim but need to wait, too early in flower to do any kind of heavy trim. Will be very selective in leaf removal until the third week of flower.

They have started stretching, looks like there is some Super Cropping in my future.

Just spent about 30 minutes with the ladies after light on, with glasses on of course, and trying to never look directly at the lamp.
They have been in 12/12 for 6 days now and I am impressed and depressed at the same time.
I am impressed that they are showing pistols, the stretch is going to be questionable but the number of bud sites are good.
I am depressed that the stretch looks like more than I expected so looks like some LST and possibly some Super Cropping during flower is in my future. More work! Oh well if I weren't here doing this I would be sitting in some cheap bar drinking beer. :rofl::laugh::rofl: Like that ain't gonna happen!
So overall I am impressed with this grow so far and will take some pics tomorrow for the first week of flower.

My goal tomorrow is to Squish me some Rosin. Need to do some decarb and make me some meds. Going to weigh all of my inventory tomorrow and see what I can use to make a batch of FECO/CCO to add to the Rosin. Hell I have at least 30 to 40 grams of Rosin I can use now but want to keep it for the Rig and Pen.
Got a lady friend that has been on chemo and Rad. and they say she is in remission, yea right,. Well I am going to make her about 60 grams of decarbed Rosin/FECO to get her on a maintenance/wellness protocol. Don't want the fucking cancer to come back.

Ok, so I bet you can tell I am rambling, and I am listening to some good rock and roll.
Peace

Wow, lucky here.
Changed out the Orbit 8 port manifold today.
When It came on tonight the filter in the center of the manifold was not tight and sprayed everywhere. As I walked in and saw what was going on I immediately went and shut down the system.
How it did not spray the hot lamps I don't know, water was going everywhere. I was expecting the lamps to explode but thank goodness they didn't.
Tighten everything down and all seems to be good.

Eight days into flower..

Ladies are strong and thick stemmed, they are drinking good, getting good DTW (about 1.5 gallons per daily irrigation cycles.
The Ayahuasca Purple is showing color and is a very strong plant, kind of thin upper stems which means I will need some support later on in flower.
Really need to do a trim, they are really bushy, have been removing some fans but really need a good trim. Going to continue removing fan leaves till the 21st day trim.
The screens are filling out well, two are at 100%, full two are about 75% full and one is about 66% full. The Ayahuasca Purple is the fullest and the four Triple Cheese are of varying fullness, the different pheno's, other than height, look close in appearance.
