GrowTek's Humboldt Hella Jelly Journal 2021

Hi everyone! I am going to be doing a little experimenting with this grow. I am going to be growing Humboldt Seed Co. Hella Jelly. It is a 70/30 sativa/indica. I have a small (30 X 30 X 72) tent, and want to maximize my yield and keep the humidity in check, so I am going to be growing 4 plants in solo cups hoping they will stay relatively small. I've never tried this before so we'll see how it goes. Growing media is 60/40 coco/pearlite, and I am going to be using an automated system I designed called the Fertigation Manager. I'll probably start with 4 fertigation cycles a day during veg, and bump it up to 8 during flower. I'll hand water with a turkey baster for the first week and then let the automation take over. I'm using Fox Farm nutes, and some supplements form GH. I just started soaking the seeds today. I'll keep you updated. Here are some pics of my setup. Talk to you soon!

Is that a basement floor? If so, is that why you've got the cups up in the air like that, so there's no danger of the root zones being in the 50s (F)?

No, they are up in the air because those black disk looking things are digital scales. The scales weigh the runoff so the controller knows if it is irrigating with the correct amount of nutrient solution. If the scales notice that the runoff is ever below 20% of what was delivered to the top of my grow media, the controller will deliver 10% more solution on the next irrigation cycle. The plants have to be elevated above the scales so the scale is only weighing the runoff.

Ah. I've never seen, heard, or read anything like that before - and I've known people who've put 25+ hours of work into saving five minutes of effort ;) .

Neat. That ought to be an interesting grow!

Well this grow had a major screw up right at the beginning :) I had 2 buckets of coco/pearlite. One had been buffered and rinsed, and the other had not. About 3 days after sprouting, I started to see some major burning on the leaves. I had been hand watering once a day with a solution of RO water and 2.5 ml cal-mag. Once I realized I had used the non rinsed and buffered coco, I started using the Fertigation Manager to do the watering, and I currently have it set to water every 2 hours with 30 milliliters. Out of that, about 20 milliliters is ending up as runoff and keeping the EC at the root zone in check. The plants seemed to bounce back pretty quickly once I did that and they are looking good now, although probably a little behind schedule.

Very nice setup @GrowTek and nice start to your grow journal.

Have you grown before this?

Stay safe, and grow well my friend,

Tok.. :bong:
I'm still relatively new to growing. This is my 4th go at it. Every grow I've been downsizing my containers. My last grow was in 2 gallon pots, and 4 plants just totally stuffed my tent to the point that I couldn't maintain the airflow I wanted. I've seen people go all the way in Solo cups before, but I'm not sure how big these are going to get. I'm going to try manifold training them and am hoping to get a nice even canopy with lots of smaller sized buds versus fewer large colas. Have you grown in Solo cups before? What was your experience?

Well, they aren't thriving like I like to see. I had been giving them a solution of: 3ml fox farm grow, 2 ml GH cal-mag, and 1 ml fox farm micro. That solution was 700 EC, and ph adjusted to 6.0. Today I switched it up to DynaGrow nutrients. I went with 6 ml foliage pro and 5 ml protekt. That solution was 1100 EC and ph to 6.0. I am feeding 20 ml every 2 hours. Any ideas as to why they are not looking very good? I don't like the droopy leaves!

Maybe it's just to much water, Maybe not draining all the way an staying damp to long. I'm sure they come around you upped the ppms. I like this Micro set up, and want to see how it goes. I know I use to much medium but it leaves room for some errors. Not matter how many grows, I'm always learning from others. Good luck and it looks good.

Hope all is well in your world.

How did this grow turn out?

We would love to be updated with some pictures and info.

How about posting a 420 Strain Review?

If you need any help with posting photos, please read our Photo Gallery Tutorial.

I am moving this to Abandoned Journals until we get updates.
