Grow pots

so i’ve been using various sizes of these pots (pictures) from small to large since i’ve transplanted the first time out of a solo cup. now the pots seem to hold moister and i swear sometimes i don’t water for 10 days (which i’ve heard isn’t too good) the soil (miracle grow organic) seems to just hold moisture . i don’t know if the soil or pot is doing more damage with retaining the water. i’ve seen the fabric pots and they make sense allowing for more airflow. should i toss these pots after this grow? change them now? or just simply poke holes around the pots for more airflow? lmk. thanks!

Lots of horror stories here by people who used Miracle Gro....worth looking into.

Probably not drinking much because it's root bound, buddy. Or appears to be to me from afar. Those pots are good for aloe plants,,, get yourself something bigger, and better. Im a fan of the fabric pots myself. You'll spend money wisely if you invest in them. I won't mention the miracle grow bc I started on that good luck!

yeeepp first time grower ! i just had germinating plants and went to home depot for whatever i could find not knowing i’d get this far . lmao. and the roots have been fucked for a while from overwatering before. i’ll look up “root bound” on google now. how can you tell from the photos that there is root bound? @MassMedMan

i don’t think they’re root bound. i transplanted them not long ago. and they’re in 2.6 gallon pots. is that not big enough for flower. my tent is only 5 feet tall (2x4x5) so i don’t want them to get too tall. since i didn’t train them. i topped at like nodes 7 or 8 when i learned what topping was lol.

Them pots don't drain or allow for aeration... Plants will get better the moment the medium improves; Miracle Grow is not a good product to grow weed. Far superior products for comparative prices these days. You can also look at making your soil. good luck.

Since you shop at Home Depot,they sell Black Magic potting soil,which is formulated for cannabis,
and it's reasonably priced (I use it,it works well)
While you're there,they also carry Black Magic fabric pots,plant food,ph adjusting solution,etc.
Not as cheap as a-zon,but hey,they're right there...

i don’t think they’re root bound.

Looking at the cone shaped pot it is pretty obvious there is nowhere for the roots to go...hence root bound. Fabric pots will be straight sided meaning there is a lot of (additional) room for the root to grow...plus fabric pots allow the roots to air prune themselves which results in a healthier root ball (and plant). Not too late to make the switch on both fabric and soil

hey that’s awesome to know i’ll check it out! i don’t know if they have the fabric pots where i live in store right now since i get snow where i’m from but they’re starting to add more stuff now. i never really hit the gardening section of home depot until more recently and they weren’t focused on stocking the gardening section at the time lol

You will be amazed at the amount of roots these plants produce-even seedlings in a solo cup can become rootbound in a ridiculously short period of time.

it’s been a week and a half. do you think there’s a possibility? i will probably get them in some fabric pots soon. you think 3gallon will do it?

For your size grow space,3 gallon would be fine-you may need to train them to keep them out of the lights,though.
