GrizzWalds - Aussie Indoor/Outdoor - Choose Your Own Adventure

Hola Grizzy,
:high-five:
To answer your 1st question, I needed to see if all the res changes were really necessary?
During my 1st run I was changing the res weekly, sometimes 2x a week! :laughtwo:
All paranoid that my plants would suffer if i didn't. :thedoubletake:
The cost of the nutes I bought were pricey as I bought the entire suite.
I was thinking I should have enough to last for 4 cycles but they only lasted for 2.
When I hand watered, I water/feed to 20%+ runoff and i hated waiting for the water to drain out.:loopy:
With a res, you just top off, or...you can pour the fresh nutes directly into the pots and walk away.
Much better suited to my lazy man approach. I usually run high ppm starting from 200 up to about 1100.
After the plant has good roots I feed with every watering.
If you automate the watering you will be surprised how much time this gives you back.
I use this time to quietly sit and observe the plant and listen for her to tell me what she needs.:dreamy:

Hi, Stage :ciao: Great info on the coco grow. You've really given me something to think about! I wanted to try running Canna's full line for a run, but chose not to because of the ridiculous cost! The other reason was, I mix my nutes in 30-gallon batches and Canna's Coco line won't work in my DWC bucket. Don't want to mix separate nutes for two style grows. Would have to, with Canna.

I have done 1 DWC grow. Two 5 gallon buckets. Like all beginners, I chased that Ph around like a mad man! You learn..... Anyway, when I flipped the lights, I started doing nute changes every 2 weeks. (added enzymes, but other than that, GH and Bud Candy.) The girls seemed none the worse for it, for sure. Your method seems reasonable, to me. Not too sure I could let it go as long as you did, but I would definitely consider a re-circ system. My biggest hurdle would be finding a suitable pump that would lift 16-18 feet from a rez. in the basement. Might swing one on the first floor, but it's still 8-9 feet of lift. Damn you with your good ideas!!! Lololol......
:allgood: Now I have to re-think.......:reading420magazine:

Thanks for the 411, Stage. Love new thinking......

Sorry to butt in like that, Grizz
:peace:

:Namaste:Andy.

You didn't butt in there none McCdive, Stage got us all reevaluating, lol...
Stage, what about tannins in the coir.. Did you wash till these were gone? Were they through your nutrient mix in res?

Just watched a funny film with my daughter... Good kids & stoner movie.... Free Birds... About turkeys trying to get off the menu for Thanksgiving.....

Grizz,
I did a cursory rinse of the coco before adding perlite and light grow nutes of 100 ppm.
Tried to rinse it but I didn't go nuts. The runoff was no longer colored when I was done.

:bong::hmmmm::helpsmilie:

I'll call this week one update.. No real difference to last one, seeing it was 4 days ago, lol. But I was away, so this is how they look when I got back.. I gave them their first water feed and added another 90w panel at 36" height, but they'll get lowered tonight....

the neglected gal..she's coming along, looks like a healthy plant now. Think three weeks starved & tortured, week later unnoticeable. Wish we healed so fast.

Awesome bud. Now we can follow each others progress, and track the differences. High five... :cheesygrinsmiley:

I just don't trust myself with soil indoors. the amount of problems I saw indoor soil growers running into has scared me off, lol.... I decided to go with the additives to avoid the deficiencies, lol... I'm an organic gardener outside with plastic bottle with "organic whatever" written on it, lol, but soil seems to act differently indoors, needs too much tender love and care than what I can give, at the moment... Thanks Jaga.... The rough looking gal is struggling. She's not taking up any room, so I'll keep with her at the moment...

There's a grower on here using floranova bloom and cal/mag from seed to harvest in coco coir. He harvests nice big healthy plants. I'll give it a try at some stage...

I was going to try it last year...The reason I haven't was a long conversation in a hydroponics store a while back. The dude said he'd never stock any of their products anymore, some company brought them out and he had an ethical dilemma giving them money.. I just went with it.. He was a good honest dude, and I figured if it meant that much to him, well, without looking into it he must have some truth behind him..
It's not really Lucas is it, it's cut back even more.. I don't know about Lucas formula, I'd like to think the hydroponics has improved since the 70's.. Surely there's some science to all these nutrients and additives.. I don't believe everything bottled and sold is snake oil...
Any research I do, for a more ethical grow, ethical towards this plant and community leads to using advanced nutrients for hydroponics..I've heard it's expensive.. I'm sure stuff I use was tested for mj, what I heard somewhere. Company stocks it under the name Total Horticultural Concentrates, see what they did there, lol...I should look into this stuff one day.
