Greenwich, Conn. (AP) – The Greenwich Planning and Zoning Commission is extending its moratorium on applications for marijuana-related business for another year.
The Greenwich Time reports the moratorium was initially put in effect last year to give town planning commissioners time to determine where a company selling legalized pot could do business.
Town Planner Katie DeLuca said Greenwich is trying to find out what it's been like for other communities where marijuana dispensaries have opened. She says little information is available.
About a dozen other Connecticut towns have imposed moratoriums since state lawmakers legalized medical marijuana in 2011 for people with certain conditions. Six operations have so far been license and one operates in Bethel.
No applications are pending in Greenwich to sell or process marijuana.
