The heat should break down the non-glandular trichromes,
which makes eating/chewing on fan leafs hard.
I have had fan leaves cooked into a stew once. They were chopped up and cooked with some veggies. Very good and easy to eat/chew. Cooked like greens would be interesting, my first thought is that it would be a little bitter/strong. But worth a try.
