Grape Ape is an excellent strain!!! I had the luck and pleasure of a good friend bringing by three Grape Ape clones for me to play with one time. I'm not completely sure of their lineage so I don't want to speculate, however I can give you some of my experience with it...
I grew using a mix of Foxfarm original planting mix as my base. Composition is as follows; 2parts foxfarm, 1 part perlite, 1 part earthworm castings. If you're growing hydro, then your media depends on your method. However I experienced great results with this mix, and the foxfarm has the dolomite lime mixed in with several other factors that keep your ph below 6.6 pretty much regardless of your feeding techniques.
As far as nutrients I used botanicare power plant 3-1-4 for veg, then a two part of botanicare power flower 2-2-5 and botanicare hydroplex 0-10-6 (which I swear by). Also I remember using the botanicare liquid karma throughout the entire life cycle except for flush. And the last month of flowering I went kinda heave on the molasses.
When the true Grape Ape strain grows (it does well in 5gallon containers) it is a low growing HEAVY indica, staying around 3-1/2 feet high when fully ripe, yet with multi-branched colas the size of your entire arm. I remember sticking one piece of bamboo in the middle of the bucket, then tying all the branches up in a Teepee method in order to stop them from stripping off of the plant due to sheer size and sticky-weight.
Well....that's my experience with Grape Ape. In my gallery there is a pic of some buds on a pillow, the one on the left is Grape Ape, center is OG kush and right is Burmese kush. The Grape Ape had WAY more of a crystal coating and kept putting everyone who tasted it to sleep!!!!:blunt:
