Well, they're half done. 2 walls out of 4 complete. But they won't be back until Monday. Lots of rain in the forecast.
This Summer is starting to remind me of 2021.
Still, I got to go back and assess the damage.
There's a bunch of insect damage all over Godzilla Glue #4. It all looks like what I took pics of. Cherry Bomb has some too.
I gave them all a thorough neem spray, with Safer's insecticidal soap as the surfactant.
Like I said, lots of rain.

Her training has gotten out of hand. I'll have to be really careful bending those two mains back into position.
One complication is the thickness of those stems. That seems to be common in SIPs.

Those clones are bursting with good health!
Thanks Tra!

The clones have been picked up. I don't know if she'll join the site, but I told her about it, and time will tell.
I also adjusted the hooks on all of them, and got those two main shoots that were taking over back down to horizontal on the Godzilla Glue #4.

I knew things were going too well, lol!
I had another clone request, specifically for Gorilla Glue #4, which came as a bit of a relief.
The two shoots that almost broke off had become dominant, and I didn't really have any way to break that except topping.
I had the choice to top the shoots themselves, or the plant as a whole, and I took the second option. Those shoots are now in peat pods, and hopefully we'll see some roots poking through soon.
Unfortunately I also got a little heavy handed bending the new top branches and nearly tore one off.
I bent the hooks into supports, and rigged another skewer to hold the tip horizontal.
If things work out she'll heal up strong, and this little mishap won't come back to bite me in the ass later when she's bigger.
It's about time to let them start growing up instead of out anyway as they've reached out past the edges of their pots.

Gorilla Glue #4

Nice slow training and well done on the clone hand-off! I hope the neem takes care of whatever is biting holes in the leaves. Might need something else for the biters vs the nibblers.

And hopefully the rain is just being front-loaded and the sun will be out the rest of the summer. :thumb:
Thanks Shed!
I should have gone a little slower today.
Fortunately the long range forecast looks pretty good. They're predicting a slightly drier than average season for this area. They're also predicting higher temps than usual, so I'll probably be watering them a lot more than usual.
I might also have to rig something up to keep the SIP cool.

The garden's still a bit of a disaster area. I can't wait until they're done with the siding and I can get to work fixing all the damage.

Cherry Bomb is growing well, but isn't anything like the shape I'd like her to be. I'll be fixing that as soon as I have enough clear space around her.

The rain isn't cooperating. It's interfering with her attempt to heal, and has reopened the wound a little.
I'm going to rebuild the frame from previous years to give her a more stable source of support, but that has to wait until she can stay in one spot.

Lemon OG x Fire Alien Haze
She's responding well to all the training so far. She seems to want to grow as more of an octoline instead of sending up shoots in the middle. Not much side branching.

Godzilla Glue #4
I'm barely keeping up with her feeding. If I weren't covering the SIP when it rains I wouldn't have a chance. It's a real pain getting the plastic through all the skewers, but it's worth it.

Dollars Loonies to doughnuts you won't even be able to find that when she's bigger!
Hope so! I'm just worried about how I'll support that branch as it gets bigger and builds some bud.

The siding is up! We just have to wait for them to pick up the rest of their scaffolding and tools, and then we'll be back to normal.
I was able to move most of the lawn furniture back into place, and I'll be putting the frame in around Gorilla Glue #4 later today.

I'll be figuring out whether or not I want to move Godzilla Glue #4 later today. She doesn't get as much Sun as the others in that spot.

Garden is looking lovely and the Cherry Bomb has breached the walls! You could add a skewer from below on the GG4 to lift it an inch, and add a few drops of white glue to keep it sealed while it heals permanently.
Thanks Shed!
I actually have 2 skewers supporting the branch from below, but I haven't glued it. I'll see if I can find the glue.

Plants are looking good & healthy

Something that isn't deterred by neem oil is munching on Gorilla Glue #4. It doesn't look like earwig damage, so I'm going to have to get more slug pellets, and I'm going to start making some BTK spray in case it's a caterpillar that's really good at hide and seek.
I am tempted to use the diatomaceous earth spray that got rid of whatever was eating a Blue Dream plant a few years ago, but she doesn't have enough leaves to make up for the reduction in light intensity caused by that spray.
The Godzilla Glue #4 is looking really lush and vigorous. The slug pellets really worked well, so I'll be keeping up with applying them.

They're looking strong and healthy! And maybe this will be of some use:

I only use DE spray on the undersides for that reason, but what's eating your leaves would probably just eat the DE and move along!

It's 32⁰C out there right now, and it's going to be hot for a few days.
I've moved Godzilla Glue #4 onto the patio. She'll get a bit more direct sunlight there.

Fantastic colour on these ladies.. like healthy glow, not pumped.
Thanks Fender!
They can't advertise that use because well, you know. But might as well use the brand name stuff! :thumb:
Lol, yeah. It makes me smile to use Gorilla Glue on a Gorilla Glue #4 plant, especially after the trademark shenanigans.

I'm not sure if it's slugs or a type of nocturnal beetle, but my bet is slugs.

Well, it's supposed to rub off onto the exoskeleton of any bugs crawling across the leaves and get them, and it can dry out slugs as they move across it, so they get to the edge and avoid it.

Side note, I'm really unimpressed with autocorrect. What kind of spelling correction software thinks it's okay to leave "dmile" in a sentence?

I've upped the feed for Godzilla Glue #4. She's showing hints of lightening up. She's now at 1.25g/L MC.
She also slowed down her upward growth and is bushing in nicely.
I'm renaming Lemon OG x Fire Alien Haze. It's too much of a mouthful, even though my phone has learned to show each word next in the suggestions.
From here on out I'm calling this strain Space Lemons.

She has a good shape, but her middle didn't really fill in with side shoots. I think I didn't keep the branches flat enough as she spread out, although I've noticed this happen on two other OG Kush heavy strains. Anyone else see that with OGs?

Godzilla Glue #4

Thanks for stopping by!

I went to see the person to whom I gave the clones today. They're doing well.
She won't be joining the site, she has trouble using forums.
I managed to screw up my back while I was helping her, but I'm happy to report that Black Sugar is excellent for back pain, and tastes like maraschino cherries in a vape.

If these were indoor plants I would think they had just been flipped, with that light green at the tips.
This shot also gives you a good idea of the size difference of the plants.

The good, the bad, and the painful! Heal up soon.
Thanks Shed, my back's almost back to normal.
