Making smart dietary choices can change your relationship with food, and one of the smartest choices is getting sufficient protein. Far too many of us get far too many of our calories from carbs instead of protein and healthy fats. For omnivores, meat is a prime source of protein and other essential nutrients; and, incorporating meat into at least one meal a day is fairly standard practice. So, knowing what's in an entrée like your holiday turkey can make it even more satisfying!
According to the USDA National Nutrient database, three ounces of turkey contains around 125 calories (more if high dark-meat content) and approximately 26 grams of protein. (In general, adult women need about 46 grams of protein daily, adult men 56 grams.) The nutritional power of turkey is absolutely remarkable. It's packed full of essentials such as Vitamins B-3, B-6, B-12, selenium, zinc, and choline, just to name a few. The powerful antioxidant mineral selenium is a real bonus. With regular consumption of sufficient amounts, it may be able to reduce the chances of developing certain types of cancer.
High-protein foods are proven to decrease appetite, create lean muscle mass, help maintain balanced insulin levels, and provide a more satiated feeling, which could result in weight loss when balanced properly within a healthy diet. You can incorporate the benefits of turkey into a balanced lifestyle and combine it with the power of the queen of green, Mary Jane. Fusing smart cuisine with the healing and slimming powers of cannabis through the use of MagicalButter just might be the beginning of a full-blown cannabis revolution!
