closet grow bubble phonics I have a few very small gnats like the kind you get around bananas not doing any apparent damage that i can see, anybody know anything about them or how to get rid of them, built a new grow place and do not want to have anything moved into it Thanks.

Those are fungus gnats. I'm new to growing and had the same problem and it doesn't look like they are doing damage because they are eating the roots where you can't see them. The adults lay eggs and the larva eat at the roots. This will kill your plant fast!

Here is what you can do. I used perlite and covered the top of my pot all around the pot this will suffocate the larva and kill them in a few days. You can always buy gnatrol which is a spray and will kill them much quicker. Good luck hope I could help

Have the same problem the pearlite will float awy with water gnatrol sounds bad. Is they a hippie organic way of taking care of this little buggers.
I started my own IPMS { intergrated pest mangament system}
3 preying mantis went into the closet and will see if that helps if not then it will be chili oil and garlic oil clove oil will and some Dr. Bonners peppermint soap. If nothing else leave the soap out and you have a marinated.
How about some B.T. in some water as a systemic? it is a lepadetracide and organic I am going to try in the water this afternoon on some only
Or predatory nimatodes?

Nematodes are the hippie organic way IMO.

Sierra Natural Science just came out with a new product called SNS-203 it's a foliar spray and/or soil drench. Check it out.

Also get sticky yellow traps, will kill the adults and give you a good estimate as to how big of a problem you have or don't have.

Have tryed about everything, but best remedy is "sticky traps"! Sticky traps all over high low inbetween everywhere sticky traps! and change them out when their dirty, but the goal is to get rid of the gnats at least most of them. They will slowly kill your girls thru the roots if not caught in time.
