So as title says? Can I post a GIF format picture to a post? Or Thread that I start? Just curious 
GIF's accepted pictures?

That link appears to point to a specific post. I did not check to see if the posting actually existed. Instead cleaned up the link a tad bit and here it is.

I looked through the Frequently Asked Questions in the web page that opens up when clicking on the fixed link. It does not list a gif formatted graphic as being accepted.
Most graphic or photo editing software will make the conversion.
After making the conversion double check that the new graphic is not smaller than wanted.
