I am going to my PCP then my Pain management Dr and since coresponding here have a new appt for a sympathetic caring Dr. in 14 days, someone of the three will undoubtedly help with my lifelong journey to live while dealing with pain.
I have never looked to be pain free and do not "get High" off my meds they either work or don't and when they do not I am truly incapacitated so I turned to MMJ and it does help.
To all who are in a rush and desperate, it tooks decades for MMJ to be an option in RI and can be caused great harm by those who do not treat it as medication and follow a dosing schedule. We should all honor the spirit of this law and thank Mr Hawkins and the late Mr Slater. This law was not intended to shield illegal drug users/dealers from prosecution but was enacted to allay the pain and suffering of the minority whom are truly suffering from various ailments as laid forth in the statute.
Please to all who seek MMJ I have been disabled for a decade and live in constant agony, suffer from seizures, and multiple debilitating medical disorders. It will help you if you try following some of my simple routines to bring a Dr.
I keep a pain journal daily, sometimes hourly,if need be. This helps me keep my mind busy and is an important tool in the medical community.
Keep all Dr's appointments and do not be late, or re-schedule.
Any meds given should be kept up high and out of reach from inquisitive hands and minds.
all medical instructions for any Rx or therapy should be followed to the letter if you need to self medicate call the Dr and leave a message if you have to.
Treat this and all meds with respect while MMJ may not kill us driving stoned could kill us and others, USE COMMON SENSE.. i know that seems like an oxymoron when marijuana and common sense are in the same sentence.
Do not give to any child unless instructed by a Physician.
Document as much info as possible it will help when something medical does happen giving Dr's much needed insight and info for others in the future who may need MMJ.
Do Not Fake or Malinger it is an insult to those who are ill.....
.......I would gladly trade my Bad Health for Your Good Health.
If you are faking this is a good way to get caught.
If you will be selling or providing MMJ to non MMJ patients the risk is great and the whole program could be defeated at the polls. We must all remeber this is an Honors program, meant to increase the quality of life for those who are the most vulnerable among RI citizens.
While discussion and the passing of info is great we must all safeguard the slim rights that have been etrusted with, anyone who would jeopardize this program is not being a good steward of the system that now serves one thousand patients statewide.
Where would they be if we destroy this medical priviledge?
The same caution and safguards that surround Federal prescriptions for Schedule II, III, IV, and V Controlled Substances should be employed by all MMJ users. This means and is enforceable as MMJ is Schedule I, that if the med is not stored in a safe place, out of sight, out of reach, and strictly controlled by the end user, and not given away to those without licensed Card, we risk fines and or imprisonment of ourselves, our associates, and our Dr.
We must treat this responsibilitie with the respect that Edward Hawkins & Thomas Slater had intended, a good guideline, or yardstick by which to measure is indeed The Controlled Substances Act of 1970, just remember that MMJ is Schedule I, if we treat it as Schedule II and employ common sense and control, do not transfer the medication to those it is not prescribed, and keep away from children and obvious threats we should enjoy a somewhat better quality of life.
Remember if you seek to change a law it can be done with education, unity, respect, and civility.
Enact legislation that is beneficial and prroductive.
Any thoughts, suggestions or criticisms please feel free to share...
