A controversial drug took one step closer to becoming legal in Georgia. A State Senate committee on Wednesday approved a proposal to legalize medical cannabis, better known as marijuana. Parents of kids with life-threatening illnesses say the drug could save their children's lives. The bill would legalize the drug only in pill or oil-based form for kids who suffer from seizures. The proposal also includes a measure that would let parents bring the oil-based form into Georgia without facing state penalties. The bill is expected to go to the full Senate for a vote. The proposal must approve the bill by March 20, the last day of the legislative session or it dies.
