GDB's Auto Array

I’m gonna try that slow and low method on my next harvest! Good morning my friend!
:passitleft:
Good day, Sunny! I think you will like the result. :Rasta:

Hello grow gang.

Just a quick update on the babies.

It's day 9 for the Californian Snow and she looks happy. She starting to grow a little. The last time I grew this strain I got some sort of genetic mutant that hardly grew at all. At the end, however, I absolutely loved the smoke from what little I got off of the plant. So I'm hoping this one grows normally because it produces some primo bud!

I'm counting today as day 1 for the Onyx. She has her second set of fan leaves now and that's when I start counting. She's still a tiny thing but she looks normal.

The Deep State

The operatives are still at it. I am considering designating my 2x2 tent an anarchy region and withholding any further growing funds from it until order is maintained.

The Afghani Mass seed I buried a few days back has emerged. Like the Californian Snow before it, the seedling looks beat up. I've given it a close examination and I don't see any remnants of the helmet. I think there is something holding it shut, however. I just can't tell what. Yet, it's just kinda' sitting there -- it won't open up and it ain't growing.

The Dark Devil that I buried with the AM remains buried. No sign of her. I'm almost tempted to take Ms. Sauga's advice and buy a Barry Manilow CD.

So today I buried two more seeds, a Northern Lights and a Strawberry Cheesecake. Both were fat seeds and both had nice long tap roots.

I feel as though I keep doing the same thing and hoping for different results. But this "same thing" has been working for years (though at a much higher success rate) so it still should work now.

We shall see. :Rasta:

Have a wonderful day, all!

That’s too funny.
You mean you don’t have one already?
I sure don't Duthchin. Those Manilow CDs are always in high demand and can be difficult to get. :Rasta:

Hello grow mavens.

A quick update on the autos.

I never thought it would be so hard to start 8 plants sorta' simultaneously. But my seeds have been failing like Trump casinos.

The DDA I buried over a week ago never came up. Oddly, when I went into the soil looking for the seed, I couldn't find it. I germed another and buried it this morning.

The last (and third) Northern Lights that I buried about 5 days ago has not come up. I'm going to give her a few more days to show. I've got a Blue Dream'atic and another Colorado Cookie paper toweled with no tap roots after 2 days on the towel. Drat!

So I've only managed to get 4 plants started and hopefully the last DDA buried will make five. The other 3 seeds in play may still cooperate and that would get me to my target of 8 plants. However, I ain't counting on that. :Rasta:

My Green Crack auto seeds will arrive today and I will try one of them. After that, I'm done, and I'll grow whatever I have going.

The Lemon AK (Day 73) is still plugging along. I moved her to the 2x2 tent with the CL so she will have to finish under an 18/6 light cycle. I moved her so that I could turn off the bloom light in my 4x4 and significantly lower the light closer to the seedlings. I'm hoping this will keep these autos from stretching so much.

Here's the Lemon AK:

Have a safe and productive day!

Hello grow throng.

A quick update of seedling status in The House of the Rising None.

I got my Green Crack seeds the other day. They were super easy to germinate and were buried in Promix this morning. Funny, the tap roots on these seeds looked a lot healthier than most that I have worked with lately. I wonder if my recent problems are due, at least in part, to using old seeds. I've had some of my seeds for nearly 2 years and who knows how long the seedbanks had them before I got them.

If the 2 GCs come up I'll have at least 6 autos going. And I am still hopeful that the last DDA I buried will arise as well, though she is sure taking her sweet time.

Anyone have any tips on how to deal with seeds that may be a bit "old?"

Later!

Good to hear the new students (green crack) are behaving for you.

There is the old shake the seeds around in a matchstick box lined with sandpaper to try and make the shell a touch easier to break through trick.
Or a soak in a very weak GA3 solution can work as well. Beware the plants will really stretch if gone this route.

But my seeds have been failing like Trump casinos.
LOLOL!

It's possible, but I hear people say they can be stored for years without any issues. Scarification as Dab mentioned above may help. I've also seen good strong tap roots produce lousy plants so imo there's no difference. Some seeds are just not viable. @carcass hit a run of bad seeds and we all tried to blame him, but I won't do that here. :)

Mr.S, thanks for your underwelming vote of confidence!

I deserve full blame for that little run of bad luck!-Turned out that my seedwarmer (stove) was getting the seeds too hot- which kills them pretty fast (104f)- now I just sit them on the router, which keeps them at 78-80f- I've had 100% success since I started doing it that way.
The LRx seeds that @13goody13 just grew were from 2017, so they still worked after 3 years in my seed storage area (my sock drawer) :)

I knew you knew there was a logical reason! :high-five:

Hi G. "House of the rising None"? Good one man! :laughtwo: But sorry about the non poppers. After a soak, I put mine in their little paper towel foil packs in a ziploc between my cable box and DVD player...haha I found out through trial and error that this was my sweet spot. Looking good besides that my friend:yummy:. Stay stoned and stay stoneder:passitleft:

That's what I need to do. Find that sweet spot. Mrs. Grand Daddy has been saying the same thing for many years. :Rasta:

I did the same when I started using a heating mat. I cooked several seeds before I figured it out. I had to put a towel (doubled) on the mat to get it to work. I'm still doing that now, but I'm not having as much success.

BTW, those cooked seeds make an excellent thimble full of soup. :Rasta:

During the winter, my stove/seedwarmer doesn't get quite hot enough to kill the seeds, but in the summer, it definitely does! I think that's why I didn't kill everything back in January.
That's a good idea with the towel to tone down the heat- maybe I'll try the stove again with an inch of styrofoam under the solo cups...

It must be good- it probably cost about ten bucks :)

Hello grow people and happy Saturday!

I am finally near my goal of 8 autos! I've got 4 plants that have been around a few weeks and 4 new babies (1 of which looks doomed). So I've got at least seven. If the one fails I probably will not replace it. I want to get this grow headed to the end, meaning no new seed drops.

I think I went through 16 seeds to get to 7 (or 8) plants! But batting .500 is only good in baseball.:Rasta:

The tallest one is a Californian Snow. She's on day 26 and being fed 3g of Mega Crop.

The second tallest, next to the CS, is an Onyx. She's on day 19 and getting 2g MC.

The one next to her in the 3 gallon pot is an Afghani Mass. She's on day 13 and getting 2g MC.

The one in front of the AM is a Strawberry Cheesecake. She's on day 11 and getting 2g of MC.

The remaining four pots contain the new babies that just surfaced in the last few days. They consist of 2 Stardawgs, a Glue Gelato and a Green Crack. The baby on the back row is the one that looks bad. She had trouble breaking through and I had to help her. By the time I did, the cotyledon had turned yellow. She might recover, but I doubt it. I'm not sure if she's a Stardawg or a Glue Gelato. That's because when I dropped the seeds in water I put the GC is one cup, the GG in one and the 2 Stardawgs in a third cup. Then I knocked over the cups with the Stardawgs and the GG. I didn't know which seeds washed out of which cups so when I put them back in the cups...well, you know. :Rasta:

The Lemon AK (day 84) is a strange plant. Her buds will not stack up or fill in. But she smells fantastic and is full of creamy trichs with some amber. She's getting 6g MC.

She'll be coming down soon and I'll be interested to see how the buds dry and cure (and whether the process causes them to firm up a bit).

On a side note, I've got almost everything I need to start making gummies! I'm waiting on the candy molds and the lecithin. I've got everything else I need.

I'm excited about that!

Later.

Hello again, growers. I'll be here all day!

I want to post some solo pics of ladies.

First up, the Afghani Mass. She's doing something strange and I am excited about it. It looks like she's growing a node out of a space where there shouldn't be one, kind of a side node. My old eyes could be fooling me, but that's what I see. (Do any of you see it?)

I've had a few "zombie" plants before and one of them turned into a big, sticky beast. The other didn't grow much but still produced primo bud.

Let's see what this one does.

Hello growers. I'm back with more solo pics.

The Californian Snow (day 26) got a little over-watered early on but she has recovered with what seems to be minimal damage. She's was topped 5 days ago above the 4th node.

The Onyx (day 19) has a nice structure.

The Strawberry Cheesecake (day 11).

I won't post pics of the teeny babies yet. But on a positive note, the plant that I thought was doomed has started to look better since just this morning! The cotyledon is starting to turn green, and she looks as if she might make it.

Fingers crossed! :Rasta:

Glad that run of bad luck is finally over for you- been there...in fact it got to where I was actually surprised if they didn't die...
Congrats on the seedlings and the teeny babies!
