Fort Collins City Council is scheduled to take the first step today toward implementing a voter-approved repeal of a citywide ban on medical marijuana dispensaries.
One year after they chose to ban dispensaries, municipal voters in Fort Collins approved a repeal of the ban.
Preliminary votes are on council's agenda to establish a licensing system for medical marijuana businesses, recognize them in the city code and allow by ordinance dispensaries, manufacturers of medical marijuana-infused products and cultivators.
Updates to the city's land-use code permitting medical marijuana businesses in the same zone districts where they were allowed before voters banned them also will get a first look from council.
A final vote on city actions to implement the return of dispensaries is slated for Dec. 20.
