MAPLE SHADE, N.J. – A southern New Jersey zoning board will be the first in the state to hold a public hearing on a proposal to use a building to sell legal medical marijuana.
Compassionate Sciences Alternative Treatment Center is due to make its pitch Wednesday night to the zoning board in Maple Shade.
The treatment center is one of six awarded a license in the state to sell pot to patients.
Its officials are making the case that its facility would be a permissible use in a business zone along Route 73, not far from Exit 4 of the New Jersey Turnpike.
The site and other treatment centers hope to open early next year, but they're waiting on final state regulations first.
