I kno its possible to start flowering with a mh but how good would the bud come out I am growing blue dynamyte, grape ape, and bubba kush in organic foxfarm soil, should I just get a hps for like185 use it for the time being, or should I attempt to flower with my metal halide thank u much pac west chronic is where its at!!!

You can flower with a MH. With those premium strains I would spend the money and get an HPS. You spent good money on some premo strains why not give them the best?

I agree with screwnuts. It has to do with the amount of blue light vs. red light. In veg blue light keeps them short and bushy and red light makes them stretch in veg. So people use that theory to keep the plant from stretching as much in the first 2-3 weeks of flowering. But i think that the plant should be left to stretch if space allows. The plant knows how big the buds are gonna be before you do remember that.
