Flowering under Metal Halide?

What do people think of flowering under metal halide and what has there's results been? I'm on my first grow and using 400mh bulb as I'm in the middle of Antarctica and no shops or online deliveries.

I switched to LED and never looked back.

Since your in a place with no laws against growing cannabis (I assume) why not just use direct sun light?

There are some people on the forum who flower with MH. Unfortunately I just can’t remember their names .

But yeah you can do it no problem. Benefits I remember people talking about were denser buds. Downside, if you call it that, is more heat. Probably other pros and cons I’m sure but since I don’t flower under MH myself I never paid much attention.

The added spectrum in MH is very valuable in flower if you add it to a normal high pressure sodium light, and I grew some monsters with 600w of each in my bloom tent. I did try blooming with just the MH too, and it works just fine. You might not get the same plants you would under HPS, but they will be perfectly acceptable up there in the long night of the arctic. My question though, since you have a ballast to run the MH, why not just buy a HPS bulb that is compatable?

Antarctica ah, ya way out their in the wild part of the world.

My only advise being that far out is have a spare bulb because you don't want it going pop in the middle of a grow.

i answered the same in your other thread. mh sucks for flower. are you really in antarctica ? @Weaselcracker your more arctic like me - this poor guys anti and that's gotta be harsh. i'm imagining a research outpost .. i'd buy a bulb and mail it to you if true just because ..

edit : they got a home depot and crappy paneled mylar in antarctica by the buckets and walls.

edit again : @Ethsmi if in the arctic the offer still stands. i'll buy a bulb and mail it so long as your ballast can use it. hell it's way easier to get something to inuvik.

I was only half serious anyway - easy enough to go find it. Which I did just to see what you said there

will take a touch longer under mh. it does not have the spectrum to really finish. seeing as those are sativa dom, they may never get amber trichomes under mh, but they should get cloudy at least. i had better luck with indica.

If that’s the only bulb I had I wouldn’t lose much sleep over using it for flowering.
Unless it broke...
