A second set of state rules rolled out Thursday details how OH physicians can recommend but not prescribe medical marijuana for patients.

Panama City is tapping the brakes on medical marijuana, for now. The first reading and vote will take place at the January 10th meeting.

Palmetto passed an ordinance in 2014 that regulates medical marijuana dispensaries to the city's commercial heavy district, and the city does not plan to take further action in preventing permit applications from being submitted.

As many as 40 shops could dispense medical marijuana in OH under rules proposed by Ohio's pharmacy board.

The law effective September 8 allows certified physicians to recommend, not prescribe, medical pot for patients with any of 21 qualifying diseases and medical conditions. Patients probably won't have access to the drug until September 2018. The initiative undid a 2011 law that largely undid the original 2004 initiative allowing medical marijuana, but late changes to the initiative resulted in new sections being added, which in turn resulted in a change in section numbering that unintentionally pushed back the date dispensaries could open.

In the wake of California voters legalizing the recreational use of marijuana, the City Council voted last month to establish a 45-day moratorium. "The folks that are maybe the most in need are the least able to provide, to grow their own", the judge said in making his ruling.
