Now I've never made hash before and i was thinking about making some a few weeks ago... Que in the synchronicity, i made a new friend not long ago and it turns out he's an expert.
So today i received a lesson in making hash. Here's the equipment that was used.
-Bubbleator
-5 micron grade bags. 160,120,73, 25 (not sure on first one as we threw it away as it caught plant matter etc)
-7 bags of ice (we needed 10)
-Bag of trim/small buds (amnesia + lemon haze + cheese)
Lots of water.
-non stick parchment paper
-metal spoon
-20L plastic bin
The trim was put in the freezer for 15 hours as the plan was last minute.com. Then we filled the machine with 2 bags of ice, the water until it was high and then the trim. It was turned on quick to see how much noise the ice cubes made so there was a good rattle, if not then more cubes are needed.
Once the amount of ice was right, we ran the machine ran for 6 minutes. We drained the water into the micron bags which were inside each other, inside the plastic bin.
While we washed and retrieved the hash from the bags the machine was running, so each load of trim got washed 3 times before new was added. By the 4th pull the returns diminish.
So the trim was added in 3 batches, it was not removed from the machine until the end when we had finished. At the end all the grades were blended together to create a full spectrum hash, and any remaining water pressed out (hash inside 25 micron bag which has absorbent paper underneath it) .
It's really cool seeing a bag of trim turn into hash! From bags of trim just sitting around doing nothing we pulled 49g of top quality isolator hash.
It's being left to dry for a few days, then it will be heat pressed into a shape. Some of this is going to be turned into rosin!
But that's a lesson for another day as i haven't made rosin before.
I hope this post helps anyone out thinking of making water hash. I got a better return doing this instead of rso.
