hi ..i have a 4'x4'x80" tent ,i am growing 4 Aurora plants and i am planning on scrogging .i have done some topping and LST.
- 7gal fibre pots.
- 4" infinity carbon filter and fan.
- growing in Greenworld 420 soil.
- feeding water only. @6.3PH
- Temp:26C
- Humidity @54%
- 4 1000w leds,each draw 185 watts.hung @ 14" and i have only turned on 2 lights sofar.
So the question is how long should i wait until i switch over? or should i say how tall before 12/12. i don't want to run out of space and also don't want to waste space ..
thanks ...

Looks to me like now would be a good time to switch. I’d also turn on all four lights. You may. want to move them a little further away than 14” though? Though I’m not really an LED guy so wait and see what someone else says about that distance.

thanks for your input... i have done some trial and error with my lights... "poor plants" ,i have lowered them down as far as 12" ,,,down 1 inch every 2nd day to get a sense of how powerful these lights really are. At 12" they started to show signs light burn ... i moved them back up to 14"instantly after the first sign of light burn. i will raise the lights when i turn the rest on,which will be soon ,the plants are out growing the light footprint.

and i guess the Aurora has a 11 week flowering time...

honestly as long as your plants don't get physically burned by the lights you can lower them to just about touching the plants, especially with LED lights since they make almost no heat
as for 12/12 you don't mention your current schedule
I'd be running 18/6 on them that size, but that is me
naturally the height you plan on attaining is key if you are looking at keeping them under 18"
now would be the time for 12/12 but you better be ready to feed them buds suspect them plants don't have a full root system developed yet, so its going to be easy to burn them

for 7 gallon pot give the plant 45 day veg time before flip (NOW veg time starts when there are 3 sets of true leaves) 5 gallon 30 days - have to give the plant time to produce spider roots, root ball size, ect Longer veg time generally increased yields !!!!!!!!!!!!!! do you use a root stimulator (great white, orca, ect)

ok so . and since i put all 4 lights on they have been blowing up..i gave them a trim today, took a few leaves off the bottom and cleaned them up a bit for good light. like i said this is my first inside grow.

The clones were in a 4"pot with a full solid root ball ..and to date they have been in the 7 Gal pots for 32 days. 24/7 with the lights since. and i haven't used any root stimulator..
i was going to fill the screen that i installed today before switching 12/12. and i also installed my auto watering system today..should make things easier on my back..
When should i have been using 18/6 ?
I have only been feeding them tap water "from home well" and have noticed the plant acting like a Nitrogen overload. The tips of the fan leaves curling downward.i may be wrong..

you are right - need to grow a bit more --- 1-2 weeks

is there a reason other than power savings to run lights 18-6 on veg rather than 24-0 ? ... im growing in my disconnected shed in southern Nova Scotia.it tends to get chilly here so my lights are a big part of my heat .

NO - NO a plant needs dark times just like us if you must go 4 hrs dark and then 20 light - your yields will be affected some what

So the question is how long should i wait until i switch over? or should i say how tall before 12/12.
Time wise, once the plant is sexually mature you can switch over to the 12 & 12 schedule whenever you want.

Or, if you want to make that decision based on how tall the plant is then you will have to consider how much they will stretch during the first several weeks of the 12 & 12 schedule.

The question is "How much higher can you raise the lights before they bump into the chains or brackets or whatever you are using to hold the up?"

oh really ..i had no idea that i would be affecting the yield by a 24 light schedule..i switched over to the 18-6 schedule last night, so their first 6hrs of dark was from 11am to 5pm. and my temp dropped from 27C to 18C looks like im in the proper temp range correct? i have ~ 2 weeks of veg to go . i heard somewhere if u provide 36hrs of darkness on the first night of 12-12 switch the plants will not stretch too much compared to not doing so ? i have a bit of space left as in height , im talking ~30" and still have 14" of light clearance to the big juicy buds

If you mean that you can go another 30" and then have 14" to the light you should be OK.

Have not heard that the 36 hours of darkness will reduce the amount of stretch.
