Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by,

I am new to growing from seed and I am observing a probable challenge with one of my young plants (plant 1). I think it is a sign of overwatering but since this is my first time, I wanted to reach out to the community to ask more experienced people if they can recognize the problem and provide some advice as how to treat it. Any help/advice is much appreciated.

Stats:

Breed: Deelite (Autoflower)

Total days of grow: 21

Sitting in an autoflower designed soil in 3gal canvas pot

Avg Temp 79.80 F

Avg Humdity: 50.11%

Equipment:

Water with ½ tsp Cal-Mag per gal (only water with approximately ½ gallon of water per pot)

Grow Tent = 1x [48"x 24"x 60"]

Lights = 1 x Vivosun VS 1000 LED Grow Light 120V

Exhaust Fan = 1 x Vivosun 4" 203 CFM Inline Fan with Speed Controller (not turned on as of yet)

Filter = 1 x 4" Carbon Filter

Small Fans = 2 x Vivosun 6700mAh USB Powered Clip Fan with Hanging Hook

Oscillating Fan = 1 x Honeywell Quiet Set Tower Fan

Hello @john26999 welcome to 420magazine my friend. :welcome:
Great Ladies you have going.
How is your ph. Soil should be 6.4
They also look hungry.
You might need to start feeding them
I'm not sure where you are but @GeoFlora Nutrients would work well for you.
But they still look fairly healthy just new growth is lighter color.
I think your soil might need a little help is all.
Bill

Hi @Bill284,

Thanks for the feedback. Apologize for not putting that piece of information in the thread. I was just thinking about that very same subject while washing the dishes. At any rate, the ph for plant one iss approximately 6.37 and plant two is around 6.39 as of 28 May. I have been watering them with a PH balanced water of 6.47 with 2.5 ml (or 1/2 tsp) of Cal-Mag mixed within. I was reading about auto-flowers and was under the impression that you should not introduce nutrients to the plants until at least week seven because of the plants burning up. So, this is the reason I have not introduced additional nutrients to the soil as of yet. Maybe I am being overly precautious. The soil I am using is a Super Soil Autoflower Concentrate from Natures Living Soil mixed with the appropriate amount of organic soil medium. Hope this additional information helps.

Ph is good.
Disclaimer here i don't grow autos. But I've read lots about them.
From what I understand an auto needs nutrients just like a photo.
I just read about that soil. N.L.S. they recommend you mix it with regular soil 5/1.
It also says it should have plenty of nutrients. So maybe its a bit hot for your girls right now.
The water your using does it have any chlorine in it ar all.
Living soil uses fungi and microorganisms around roots to help feed them. Which chlorine kills.
Also it recommend some amendments to add to that soil.
So it might just need time to build roots and get used to the soil.
Do you have any kelp or superthrive or even B1 ? would help roots and overall health.
Bill

Like Bill and Tokin said they look good just a little underfed. I'm not very experienced, but I have hist recently grown an auto in a precharged mix that I was instructed to not feed until week 7 also and mine displayed the same results. I would. I finished my first auto and started a second and changed a few things up and one of the things I changed was adding some fungi and bacteria to the soil to help break down the organic matter. I used recharge but you can also use bokashi. You also might wanna pick up some thrive alive b-1 green, I've read good stuff about that and just picked up a bottle to try out myself

Bill, if the soil is too hot (say he was using Miracle-Gro), could he flush all the nutes out of the soil?
The problem is it would take a long time to wash them out. Being soil it takes a dry cycle in between.
Costanzo has a good point something to to help root zone development would be beneficial.
I also love Bokashi. Makes a great tea to help roots.
Can also be sprinkled on top for feeding.
Superthrive or b-1 would be beneficial.

Welcome @john26999

You are doing a great job for this being your first time.
Ladies look a little hungry like @Bill284 mentioned, but happy.

Will you be starting a grow journal?

Here's the link to help if you decide too.

How to Make a Grow Journal

Stay safe, and grow well my friend,

Tok..:bong:

Hi @Tokin Roll,

Thanks for the encouragement. I do have a grow journal, (don't remember where I received the template) and updating with the information when I tend to the plants (like when they need watering and capturing the PH of the runoff and the water when hydrating the plants.) Thanks again for the help

Hi @Bill284,

Thanks for the advice, I will await for the soil to dry (approximately four more days) and then adjust the nutes. Plant to start out with 1/2 the dose and see what happens. It's a journey so we will see what nature has in store.

Sitting in an autoflower designed soil in 3gal canvas pot
I do not grow autoflowers but like the others I do follow some of those who do. The part about "autoflower designed soil" caught my attention.

What is the soil. From what the photographs seem to be showing it is not a natural soil and instead is something that is coco coir based or at least has a heavy layer of coco coir chips spread across the top.

I don't think the water has chlorine, its city water. but I will use recharge in the soil to help the roots.
Most city water departments will have chlorine or chloramine added at the water processing facility.
