Medical Marijuana is making its way into the medicinal world as numerous states have already opened dispensaries. The newest city to have a dispensary would be New York.
As per High Times, the first medical marijuana dispensary is set to open on January 2016 in Manhattan just off Union Square.
NBC News then gave out the exact address of the dispensary. As per reports, it will be located on the 14th Street between Second and Third Avenues. It would be run by Columbia Care, a New York City based company. It was awarded as one of the state's five medicinal marijuana licenses back in July, 2015. Companies are now busy establishing a plan for the grand opening.
Nicholas Vita, the CEO of Columbia Care, stated: "We hope to move as closely to a pharmaceutical manufacturing process as we can"
43 companies across the nation applied for five licences. Each license allows the holder to operate one manufacturing facility and four dispensaries. All medical marijuana dispensaries must be within New York State.
Bloomfield Industries, Empire state Health Solutions, Etain, and Pharmacannis are among the 5 license winners.
The founder of Greenwave Advisors, which is an industry research firm, Matthew Karnes stated that the program is a step forward in building awareness and visibility.
He then stated: "The New York program is a symbolic step forward in terms of visibility and awareness."
The husband and wife duo, Teddy-Norah Scott and Christina-John Lejawere were founders of Pharmacannis. The company was founded last 2014. Both husbands come from legal backgrounds. They have worked as intellectual property lawyers and the wives came from marketing and human resources and recruitment.
As per Teddy Scott: "There is no doubt that people really see and believe this legalized medicinal use is actually working and doing something, but what people are missing is how and why it's working, that is where we are trying to take this right now. ... We can be leaders in the industry for respected purposes."
