The first time I ever tried growing Marijuana I took a dozen seeds I had collected from different bags of smoke my buddy had received from Oregon and threw them in some water. After a day I put them right into my soil and let them sprout under the worst light bulb in my apartment. I invested in a four foot, four bulb T5 setup and thought I was somehow king shit all the sudden. I used advanced nutrients to help keep Ph in range although I had no idea what that even meant back then. I mixed my nutrients with distilled water almost every time. I took many trips to Walmart. Besides being light and fluffy I was super stoked by what I had done. I was basically turning into a cannabis God. Ok, maybe not. But my first harvest ever ended up pleasing me...
I couldn't believe that I grew bud like that in my closet. Obviously I had no idea at the time how little I really knew. But damn was I hooked. Now I am obsessed. I am currently in the middle of my second, and third, grows if you count my other location. A buddy and I set up his shed so we could grow and flower in separate rooms creating a perpetual harvest. I hope to harvest around 3 to 4 plants every two weeks come summer. But before that here is my small tent grow with 5 raspberry cough girls and two random seeds that happened to be female. Lucky.
The tent is 4 feet long 2 feet wide and 5 feet tall. The ideal number of plants in my opinion would be less than then number I currently have in there but that is hindsight. I am using a 600 watt hydrogalaxy LED light with 2 supplemental CFLs.
I vegged for 30 days before switching to flowering and I low stress trained almost all the plants. I use a small inline booster fan to remove the old warm air from the top of the tent. After seeing how freaking big the other fan and filter was I bought for my other space, I figured I could get something a little smaller for the tent lol.
I switched the lights on January 29th so I have a little ways left to go but so far so good. Dealt with a few nutrient problems but I believe I got them under control.
Now when it comes to my other location, I can probably offer more advice on what not to do rather than what TO do. I dealt with bugs, cold, heat, electricity problems amongst other things. Started again with random seeds weeding out the males. I let them veg outside during June and while they were sitting in my dad's backyard on an old pallet I believe they picked up some unwanted guests.
I put them into the flower room under a 600 watt hps and let the magic happen.
I ended up releasing about 1500 ladybugs once I found the first spider mites. And when we chopped I just bleached the crap out of the room and cleaned the equipment. It worked. Oh I also did a hot pepper rub and almost choked to death. Didn't turn off fan ha.
These plants were grown with bad soil in hot summer Temps and had bug problems so I only got 4 ounces off 9 plants. Which is terrible but it fueled me to my next attempt. I have to travel back and forth and sometimes don't get to touch them everyday. This makes small problems worse sometimes. You gotta touch everyday. But some nugs really turned out stellar.
Well those were some of my early grows and obviously the raspberry cough is still going. Gonna post again tomorrow with my current grow including 3 kaboom plants and 4 white widows. Thanks for reading. Stay high.
