Hi I'm new to the forum and new to growing, and I think my plants are having issues already :phew:. On my largest plant the lower leaves are turning yellow and on one of the smaller ones is turning black on the edges of the leaves. growing in soil, plants are about 1.5-2 weeks old. using a 500 watt work light about 2 feet from the plants. sorry about not posting images at first and low detail of info im new to all this

(and lots more details)

i have purchased a couple dozen plastic drip trays for my solo cup planters... but anything will work, even putting them all in a cake sized plastic container all together.

You must allow the stagnant water to drain out however. Whatever it takes, a knife or a drill... get some holes in there now and let all that wet out... your roots are drowning and you are killing your plants.

Please define that soil for us so I can give you further advice.

...and those cups are small and clear. Roots do not like light. I'd put them in something that blocks the light.
Your work light may work but it probably isn't going to do a great job. It probably isn't full spectrum and may put out more heat than you want. Dunno...

got to run, but I wanted to say that if that is a decent soil that you are in, just keep successively up-potting to the next larger sized container each time they outgrow the small one. This puts fresh soil on all sides of them several times throughout veg, and you DO NOT need to add any other fertilizer... the soil has everything your plants need in it. As soon as you start adding fertilizer, you have entered another world, and one that you must be prepared for. If you have no way of checking and adjusting your pH when you add fertilizers to your water, fertilizer can be the same as poison to your plants. I highly recommend just using soil alone for now, until you get familiar with proper watering and up-potting techniques... there will be plenty of time for using nutrients later on.

if you are in a soilless mix of some kind... ignore all this, and hopefully one of the other experts here will advise you as to what to do with your nutes.

Take care... I will check up on you when I get back later this afternoon. --Emmie

so its probably over nutes and no holes in the bottoms doing it? because i did add fish fertilzer to the water 3 days ago but havent since.

That MG soil probably already has fertilizer in it so I'd be careful adding anything else until you get to know how the plats do in it. Also, it appears to be "water conserving". It may work well, but what our crop really likes is the opposite - plenty of aeration and light, well-drained soil.

What I'd do: move to bigger, well-drained pots that are not clear, no added fertilizers for a while.
