First grow - Is this normal?

I do defoliation in stages throughout veg and into transition to flower (yeah I'm one of those count from pistils assholes too) and little here and there during flower if I can't find a nice spot to tuck them. I also twist fan stems so the leaf is splayed vertically as opposed to horizontally. I take some fans at the last two weeks so expose the buds to more direct light but a leafless plant is a dying plant .

I'll trim more in veg, but they'll grow right back. Just something people has to play with. I just hate looking at plants with no leaves, gotta have leaves to survive properly
For us ( and others using Docs it) that's very true Buck, but actually there are some really straight forward hydroponics that allow you to strip almost all the leaves and side branches below the kola so basically they make their plants look like rows of bud with the occasional bud leaf sticking out as well as the sugar leaves.

And just like liquid jade I'm sure y'all can do that! You've grown so much weed you just know when a plant is ready without having to look at trichs. But for us noobs we have to go by them :p

I've never ran hydro, just soil. I've experimented with stripping. If I stripped too much, had small popcorn buds, the less I stripped the bigger the buds
Yeah I keep most of my leaves too even in my Coco hydro setup. Although I did do a pretty large deleafing with my Coco girls. They were getting so bushy that I was going to risk mold during flower plus the light penetration is better. There are pluses to defiation done right.

Everyone should look at the trichs no matter what haha. There's no other more definitive sign of mature cannabis.

I don't have many of the big fan leaves left, this strain produces soooo many leaves, you should have seen how much I've pulled off.. I think I stripped a little too much, but I'm still getting GREAT results off these little autoflowers. next grow im gonna try and do minimal defoliation and see how it works out for me.

That's a beautiful AF what strain?

Blueberry auto from 420. I think I'm setting the record for them because most reviews state they only get 1-2oz lol
What did you pull off of her? From what I've seen, current genetics autoflowers usually yield anywhere from 2-6oz depending on the strain and how you grow them. In my opinion, 420 has some great starting strains with well known names, but if you want to get into some next level autoflowers, check out Mephisto Genetics and Fast Buds. I got my autos from CKS and I wish I would have waited and got them from one of the two places I mentioned above

All I'm going to say is that, the leaves are what powers the plant, a few leaves and a few popcorn buds at the bottom and a few of the leaves blocking light from reaching deeper, YES get them bitches out of there, but there's a fine line in the amount you should remove and the gain is really kind of marginal and strain dependant.

I got 3.7 oz and that was my first grow. 1.5 ft tall and went for 66 days this girl is just about done and should give me 4-5oz. I got seeds coming in from Bomb seeds and auto seeds. Big yielders. Will see how those go :)

Cherry Bomb I hear is ammaaaazzzziiinnggg that's awesome you got so much off of a little plant hows the blueberry smell? Is it there? I've heard a lot of autos don't smell as good as their photoperiod counterpart

Liquid jade said 30% bigger from defoliation, at least for that current grow in that video. Which is not marginal but I have not tested this out myself. I know it works, but for as how much I can't say.

Oh god it smells amazing, extremely sweet. I sometimes like to touch a bud and just sit there on the couch and smell my hands. Opening the jars during curing is pure heaven.

Try to think of the conditions in which that 30% increase was obtained, again no one is saying that defoliating reduces yields or inherently doesn't do anything for the plant, but those conditions make or break that increase.
