Hey all i am finally into flowering mode now ( 2nd week) and i was told by a few people that the pllants dont need as much water in the flower stage but my girls pots are goin dry after two days now compared 2 three or four in veg is this ok? There are some flowers starting on all the plants and the # 1 plant is now 3 n half feet tall!!:headbanger: How long before i need to start flushing with water only and if i harvest the top stuff will the lower buds still fill out more? Cant wait to see some big buds soon:cheesygrinsmiley: :bongrip: will post some pics soon

Your plants need more water in flower, not less. So definately give them some when they need it, but don't keep the soil soggy. Flushing is for the last 7 -10 days of the budding cycle... And you can harvest the colas of the plants first and let the bottom branches fill out more.. no problem.

I don't know where everyone got the idea that cannabis is a dry loving plant. That's quite the opposite. Cannabis is a "moisture loving" plant and needs lot's of it to survive. Cactus is a dry loving plant. Yes as with "every" living thing (including humans) too much water is not a good thing. Too much can drown the roots and encourage fungal and root/stem rot, but as long as proper drainage is available, cannabis will use almost as much water as you can give it. The type of medium determines how much air and water it can hold. Hard pack and clay soils can retain too much moisture. Course materials will allow too much air to water ratio and the roots will dry out. It's a happy medium that makes cannabis roots happy.
As plants grow and age their requirements for water increase. Roots branch out which increases the surface area which absorbs more water increasing the needs to water more. Extended dry periods (even when the plants appear moist) can slow growth, extend flowering periods and have an adverse effect on yield.
There is no exact time when to water but there are some rules of thumb to follow when container growing. Seedlings and clones should be planted into small containers and watered when the top of the medium is dry. Larger plants can be watered when the medium is dry to a knuckle or two deep. One of the best methods is the clean and jerk method.:cheesygrinsmiley: Pick up your container just as your medium is starting to show signs of being dry. Judge its' weight. Then water the plant completely. Now pick it up. You now know that when the container is as light as it was when it needed water, to water it. When you don't water cannabis enough your plants can exhibit droopy, pale or curling leaves. The leaves and branches can also become soft and mushy rather than crisp and rigid.
The key is to start with a high quality growing medium, capable of delivering both water and oxygen to the roots as efficiently as possible, and to maintain a moderate climate. Get on a routine schedual of saturating the medium. Allow it to dry a "little" in between. This way you can assure that your plants get all all they need, when they need it.

Thanks guys for the support and i can't wait for them buds either the tops have small buds and the middle of the plants are startin to get tiny buds how long usually till the buds start to fill out week two ends tommorow?:bongrip:

By far, MJ uses the most water (and nutrients) during the 1st 3 weeks of flowering, when they can more than double their height.
After that growth spurt, water needs decrease as growth slows.
My outdoor girls this year drank only 1/3 as much during the last few weeks before harvest compared to the 1st 3 weeks of flowering.

It all depends on the plant bro.. I've learned from mine that they all very. My plant right now is barely showing flowers and I planted it in august, and started flowering in early december. Its in slow mo! lol

two small sujestions. 1. put them in bigger pots next time. You want at least a gallon of soil per ft of plant hieght.
2. if you have the space to veg a few clones under a couple small clf's, take a half dozen or so flowering clones around day 21 of flowering. think perpetual harvest dude.
oh yeah, and don't forget. Flush, flush, flush a week or so before harvest.

Yeah i wanted to putthem i nbigger pots but too late now!! I might be moving in the next 3 months so cant do perpetual crop yet(i wish) I have some pics just wating for approval will post later. Week three almost up and the plants are getting some nice little buds am now concentrating on max yeild of the four plants and will start the cloning after i move!!

nice dude...

Thanks vintner i am but it seems now that my soil ph has jumped to 7 :hmmmm: what can do to lower the ph a bit? I will have some new pics soon, also wonderin when the buds are gonna fatten therre are lots a buds but they aren't really fattening at all.
Thanks:adore:

The buds will bulk up a lot in the last week or two. Ask Gorillabuds about changing your soil ph. He seems to know a lot about that sort of thing.

Adjust your water down with some PH down or white vinegar (a little goes a long way), and water as usual. With your PH at 7 it's locking out nutes needed for the buds to grow. That's why they aren't filling out. Get them back down to 6.0-6.5 and you'll see it jump.

is 6-6.5 good for veg too?
