Local businessman, pot advocate and former municipal, provincial and federal candidate Tim Felger met with city officials on Thursday to learn the fate of his Da Kine cafe in downtown Abbotsford.

The city has decided to revoke his business licence, but Felger said he is not going to give up his fight to keep Da Kine going.

Felger was arrested May 13 in a police sting at his Da Kine store on Essendene Avenue after he sold small amounts of pot to an undercover officer on several occasions. Following the arrest came the loss of his business licence.

"It's totally unreasonable," said Felger, who said he is considering his next move, but doesn't necessarily need a business licence to keep the shop open, as he would use it as the location as political party headquarters and use donations to pay for the lease.

"I can make enough off of donations to keep the place going," he said.

"I can't quit."

In terms of his arrest, Felger said if the local government decided to spend less on policing marijuana distribution and use, then there may not be a need for a special made-in-Abbotsford gas tax.

While Felger was in custody for the arrest, the windows in his store were smashed. He said he plans to remain in the same spot doing the same work.

At the time of the arrest the Abbotsford Police said the special sting operation that led to Felger's arrest came about after a number of complaints were received by police from the public about pot being sold to youth and students from the Da Kine shop.

"I'm down here as part of the larger community, working to make it a better community," said Felger.
