Yuba County Sheriff's detectives are looking for a father-son duo and three other suspects who allegedly took $10,000 in marijuana plants and a Chevrolet from a Dobbins man.
The 65-year-old victim was at his home on Indiana Ranch Road when two men allegedly came to the residence at about 7 p.m. Wednesday and started an argument with him, said Yuba County Sheriff Steve Durfor.
The men, identified as Douglas Gilliland, 43, and Anthony Gilliland, 24, struck the victim several times before two white men and a white woman arrived. The trio was armed with a handgun and a double-barreled shotgun, Durfor said.
They allegedly brandished a handgun and threatened the victim while detaining him at his home. They allegedly stole $200 in cash and 30 mature marijuana plants from him, valued at about $10,000. They also coerced him into signing over the title to his car.
They finally left at about 4 a.m. Thursday and the victim was able to call a friend for help, Durfor said.
The victim sustained only minor injuries, and declined medical attention. His vehicle, a gray 1992 Chevy Lumina four-door sedan, with California license number 6LAC543, is still missing and considered stolen.
Some of the suspects also left in a white midsize four-door sedan with front end damage, Durfor said.
Anthony Gilliland is described as clean-shaven, about 5-feet-11-inches tall, and weighing about 165 pounds, with a shaved head and brown eyes.
His father, Douglas Gilliland, is described as clean-shaven, about 6-feet-1-inch tall, and weighing 170 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.
The victim did not have a more detailed description of the other three people, the sheriff's office said. All five are considered armed and dangerous.
