Over on @Emilya Green 's thread I mentioned SuperAngryGuy's amazing work that he's published over on reddit. He's got at least one patent related to what he calls SLT - selective light training. He details a lot of his work there but I wanted to quickly summarize it and turn more people onto this type of light-based training.
For this post, I'll just focus on what he did with blue LEDs in particular. He found that if you keep high intensity blue light on the growing portion of the stem of a plant, that you can get super tight internodal spacing. The rest of the plant get's traditional lighting, but to make this work you have to keep constant blue on the stem. Here's a few pics of the light sticks he made for testing:
here's a bean pole that should be feet tall but is instead only 8" tall:
So, you want to know what can this do with cannabis, don't you?
Here's a Jack Herer he grew with the same method:
and here's a close up of a skunk that really shows the tight internodal spacing:
I haven't yet had the chance to duplicate this, but I'm working on creating my own light sticks to play with something similar in the future. I'm personally really curious what kind of growth you would get with blue on the stem and red/far-red on the rest of the plant.
I have another experiment running that currently has my attention which I'll detail below.
