OAKLAND, CA -- Cannabis authority Ed Rosenthal was raided at 6 AM this
Tuesday morning by DEA agents. Several witness said that Rosenthal was also
arrested, but no official confirmation from the DEA has been forthcoming.
According to reports from California NORML Dale Gieringer and legal expert,
Chris Conrad, the raid was still in progress, as of 10 AM and no county or
state agencies appear to be involved. Unconfirmed reports indicate top 215
attorney William Panzer will be representing the 55 year-old author of the
long-running "Ask Ed" column in High Times and Cannabis Culture.
The raid appears to be carefully timed to coincide with Asa Hutchinson's
scheduled talk at the Commonwealth Club in nearby San Francisco.
"It sends a creepy message to the entire cannabis community," said Steve
Kubby, who co-authored "Why Marijuana Should Be Legal," with Mr. Rosenthal.
