Drcannabi's KIS Organics Recycled Soil - HSO Loast Coast OG - LED Grow

Are you aware of the bud backbuilding technique popularized here by Light Addict?
It's very simple. At about 2/3 of the way through flower (6 weeks) snip about 3 hairs and a tiny bit of flower off the tip of your buds. This causes the buds to widen and become denser - shorter and fat vs longer and thin. It's more of a bag appeal, bud density technique than something to increse yield.

Until you mentioned putting on weight, I had misfiled this techniqe. I'm going to start doing this again. :)

You know it bud! Already did it. :high-five:

I'm glad to hear your initial report on the LC-OG. I can't wait to grow her as well.

By the way...

Salts... :grinjoint::grinjoint:

LOL! Sorry bud.

I'm glad you can take a little friendly ribbing. Was worried after I posted, that it might offend you.

I'm pretty upbeat about the LC-OG Blaze. ET and HSO have different genetics though so I'm not sure this will translate to the ET version. I've heard ET is outstanding :thumb:

Heck no, I have real problems in my life. :420: is my happy place. I've grown with salts and had some unreal yields. Now a days I have moved to organics. I will grow organically as long as I'm physically able lol. I just love the flavor and terpenoids that develop with a solid SFW. :Namaste::circle-of-love::thumb:

Oh... I was under the impression that HSO got their cut from ET??

Me too bud. Here's the blurbs.

Humboldt Seed Organization Lost Coast og

Lost Coast OG by Humboldt Sed Organization has gassy aroma and flavour. Its finishing quicker than any other OG variety and is performing well in coastal areas. This mostly Indica hybrid has bigger yields and quicker flowering stage.

Emerald Triangle Seeds Lost Coast O

The legendary OG has played a huge role in making California famous. Emerald Triangle crossed Pakistani Kush and Lemon Thai with the legendary Chemdawg #4 to provide a unmistakable taste and high. This lady has wide internodal spacing, filled with clusters of rock-hard, massive buds below the large terminal colas. She features vigorous vegetative growth and performs best in a trellis to support its huge colas. This incredibly potent strain has the taste of citrus and sour mixed with the legendary Kush flavor balancing it out. Helps combat chronic pain, migraines, depression and a host of other medical conditions. One of California's most potent and desireable strains.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that HSO was gifted a cut of lost coast by a breeder in the emerald triangle. I just assumed it was emerald triangle seeds. Let me see if I can find it again. Might have been on Bonza's site.

Ok, not from bonza but from HSO site.

A reknown Emerald area breeder passed HSO this elite clone, which they backcrossed into their Emerald OG to bring out some more gassy flavor and smell. This plant does great in coastal areas, is earlier finishing than your average OG, and the yield is also bigger. It´s one of HSO favorites because it performs so well outdoors.

I see now from reading it again, that it is not the same strain. My bad...

I remember I chose the ET version because of the chemdawg #4 pheno they used to make it. That #4 looks like some serious dank.

Thanks Blaze!

Brightlight grew out the ET version and was very impressed. I gather from your post that HSOs version is a cross between ETs LC and their own OG. I think the HSO I'm growing is going to be awesome! Either way, you are going to have some nice plants my friend.

I'm not sure of anything anymore. Is the renowned breeder from emerald area in fact ET? If so, did ET or HSO Bx to Emerald OG? The wording would suggest it was ET that Bx'd LC-OG to Emerald OG.

Here is the thing though... Emerald OG is OG Kush, and LC-OG is just ET's version of OG Kush. Just like every breeder has their version. It's confusing, but I suspect it is meant to be confusing. So did ET Bx LC-OG to LC-OG?

So, if I were to guess (but it's just a guess). HSO collaborates with ET, but wants a slightly different take on their LC-OG and gets ET to Bx it to ???? to create a very similar strain but sufficiently different for HSO to slap their brand on it.

Have a look at the link below. Seedfinder lists the genetics of HSO LC-OG as identical to ET's version. Hmmm... the plot thickens. LOL!

So probably just a different pheno, or slightly altered version of LC-OG... or it is identical. Pick one. LOL!

I hope I won't get into trouble for posting that link. It is purely meant to be informational though...

Back in time for good strain discussion to go w/ morning coffee. ET Lost Coast is exceptional strain. Grown outdoors last 2 summers. Good results each time. Only recommend strains occasionally as everyone has different tastes & interests, but confident anyone growing ET LC should be pleased. Just harvested ET Cherry OG (Lost Coast x Cherry Thai), extraordinary fragrance & strong Thai influences...like it even more than I thought I would. Will surely grow it again.

Doc your organic plants & buds back up your staunch pro organic beliefs. Good peeps here that no sh*t storm erupts when organics vs. synthetics discussions pop up. My organics know how took a hit indoors trying to build organic mixes using all coco. Still at it & still learning. Like coco but peat is easier imo. Example is I have to watch pH raising but otherwise important organic ingredients in mix (dolomite lime is good example). Far less of issue in peat.
:Namaste:

I absolutely love talking strains. I'm a nerd like that.

What were the effects of LC-OG like? Couchlock...50/50... or cerebral? I'm liking hybrids with noticeable sativa and indica effects. Would you recommend the Cherry OG over the LC-OG? I have both in my wishlist on Bonza.

Hi Brightlight,

Thanks for the recommendation on the LC and Cherry OG. I hear you with promoting strains. It's such a personal thing that is really hard to know if someone else will appreciate the same attributes.

For organic living soil OLS, I've only used Alaskan peat moss. I've heard others using coco, but the instructions on the KIS nutrient pack said use peat moss so I did lol. I'd give their recipe a shot if your shoulder can handle the work :) mixing soil does take considerable effort. :Namaste:

Hi Blaze,

I'd pull the trigger on those beans, who knows how long bonza is going to run that 50% off sale. I'll be able to give you a smoke report and numbers on the HSO version of LC-OG in 3-4 weeks. It looks and smells very nice. I've never grown or smoked chemdog but this has a very lemon og honey smell. VERY nice indeed.
