Dr. Phil show on medical marijuana

alright. i really hope some people do this. voice your opinion!

I said my piece, kept it short and to the point....here's what I said if anyone is interested.

"As someone who has spent years of his life researching the pros and cons of medical marijuana, I can defiantly say that medical marijuana is safer and arguably more effective than a vast majority of legal or FDA approved medicines.
While I have never tried medical marijuana personally, I have seen the first hand positive effects it brings to patients who are desperate for anything to help ease their pain.
It still astounds me that our government, who since our inception has stood for freedom and liberty, denies sick people a right to the medicine they want, merely because of a stigmatization that was created 70 years ago on incredibly false and racist foundations.
As pharmaceutical companies spend billions of dollars on the creation and peddling of drugs with, in many cases, far harsher side effects than those of medical marijuana, millions of innocent sick people are forced to either suffer or take a bold yet federally illegal action.
If the government or American people had any sense in this issue, they would see that it is finally time to end the vilification of this GOD made medicine, and make medical marijuana legal for all who need it."

While I generally consider Dr. Phil a waste of cells, I think if we can get a lot of positive info represented on the show it might at the very least be some good PR for the issue we all care about. So let's take advantage of this opportunity, even if it seems relatively futile.

you dont have a medicinal card , do you

I just can't do it! I'd be mortified if anyone I knew saw me - not in reference to medical marijuana... It's just that I know they'd find out about my 420 Girl affiliation somehow and then bring up my nude modeling. I'm sure they'd then link it to some accusation of addiction or something ...And on national television. Yeah. Nooo way! Not for me! (::Janie is usually such a brave fighter but this prospect sends her running::)

I hear ya. I think that most of us are afraid that the discussion would become less about MM and more about mudslinging.

You have no idea how much I'd like to join the discussion. But I don't live in a MM state, so that just makes me a criminal. Plus, I have small children. He'd crucify me.

BUT, you still can voice your opinion on that page and check the box that says you WOULD NOT be willing to appear on the show.

Yeah. I mean, the whole point of the show is to bring up controversial topics and people and then subject them to Dr. Phil's old fashioned, Freudian judgments. There was a scandal recently... Apparently he's not even licensed as a psychologist anymore. He does have a Ph.D., so he's still a doctor, but he's not the psychology mastermind he pretends to be. Oh yeah, I've seen bring down the wrath of hell on pot smokers on his show before. No way am I gonna get up there and let him make me cry in front of the whole country. ...Well, actually I'd probably end up getting mad and throwing a chair or something. Then he'd just label as me as psychotic from all the "hallucinogens" I must be smoking.

^ True. It would have to be someone who can hold their own under strong pressure. Like someone with a PhD in Cannabis or Medical Marijuana. That would do, I bet.

There are scores of doctors and scientists who would attest to all that we say here -- that marijuana criminalization is a function of ignorance.

I wonder if he's looking for that kind of discourse or just looking to hear it from a nobody. That's my hope -- that he want's to hear it, regardless of who it's coming from. That he is reasonable.

We don't want to force marijuana on anyone, much less children. We just want the right to manage the lives we were given. I didn't ask to be born. I didn't ask for any of the bullshit that's happened. But I'm asking for something now. I'm asking for the right to be healthy. Happy. Isn't that last one an inalienable right?

UPDATE

The Dr. Phil website has removed the topic from their list. This could be a good thing or a bad thing. Maybe they weren't expecting to hear so many "pros". Maybe they got everything that they needed. Who knows.

But the link is still active from my original post, even though it is no longer an option for Dr. Phil.com viewers. Hint, hint.

I say bring on the medical marijuana patients. They tell the story better than anyone else. Facts are important, but putting a face on medical marijuana is what people need to see. They need to know it is their daughters, sons, husbands, wives, moms, dad, neighbors, and co-workers.

I would love to be on that show. My mothers false teeth would fall right out of her mouth. Maybe then she would understand what I have been trying to tell her all these years. We have three family members that are using medicinal marijuana, and she still doesn't get it.

There is plenty of rebuttal to anything that is said negatively about medical marijuana. WE have the facts. It's too bad he isn't doing the show, it would give us the opportunity to show a different side to medical marijuana. WE have the facts!

Peace:rollit:

Maybe I will respond... I'm really, really informed on MMJ... I think I could keep him on his toes - but that might be just the kind of person they DON'T want on the show.

If the drug war were about the people and the plants it would have never been made illegal. IMO if anyone would like to get a larger perspective of the drug war past the medical issues then feel free to check out the link. This prohibition on drugs has two central forces, greed and power which are running rough shod over anything in its path no matter how weak and vulnerable, no matter how vaste the damages, humanity be damned.

Our economy relies on many currencies, legal and 'illegal', seen and unseen. Drugs being one of them which of course is part of the 'black' market and 'black budget due to prohibition. Any sisters or brothers gonna bring up these points on the Dr Phil Show?:smoke2:

*big sigh*..... now I'm gonna get back to chillin out and enjoying this fine evening:peace:

Not sure if this show will actually air or not but I did volunteer to go on the show. I tried to keep my letter to the show strictly focused on medical marijuana and not the legalization of marijuana or hemp. I didn't want to stray from the shows exact topic since medical marijuana opponents believe its just a gateway for pot heads to get marijuana legalized. Let me know what you think.

I know everyone knows someone suffering from or who has suffered from multiple sclerosis, CANCER treatment, AIDS (and AIDS treatment), glaucoma, depression, epilepsy, migraine headaches, asthma, pruritis, sclerodoma, severe pain, and dystonia. It is relatively easy to extract THC(the main psychoactive substance in marijuana) from marijuana into food or beverage, or into some sort of lotion, using butter, fat, oil, or alcohol. Also vaporizers allow for another smokeless THC extraction method. This allows for the effects of marijuana to be achieved without inhaling smoke and therefore eliminating any health risks from the equation.
Why would anyone deny patients of a harmless treatment that would help them?? Cannabis use also allows Cancer patients to be able to have an appetite after chemo-therapy sessions. There are over 60 chemicals in marijuana which have medical uses. So ask yourself why the government is not allowing these uses? Each year millions of dollars are spent researching prescription pills and cures. Health Care and prescription pill costs are plaguing Americans everywhere. I have watched my family suffer first hand from prescription drugs. These drugs are not only extremely addictive, but also include some serious side-effects. Cannabis medicines are cheap, safe, and natural. So ask yourself why this is something not even being talked about in the upcoming election. With 75% of Americans for legalization of medical marijuana why is nothing being done! The majority of these people are not even users. They are merely sensible enough to know the advantages of marijuana.
Also, even though some states have legalized medical marijuana the DEA comes in and raids dispensaries daily. Leaving the sick to suffer and raiding all the supplies and money from the medical dispensaries. Punishing dispensaries for providing patients with doctor prescribed medicine all while following state law is unjust and wrong. I'm quite sure the DEA's resources could be better used than arresting people with serious medical conditions.

Here are some of the statistics. The deaths from the use directly to the body last year (not including driving accidents, second hand smoke, etc. etc. ).

2007 Deaths :

Tobacco - 450,000

Prescription Drugs - 150,000

Alcohol - 100,000

Heroin/ Cocaine - 10,000

Marijuana - 0

Why is it ok for tobacco and alcohol to be legal and we are denying our sick American people medical help from something that is absolutely harmless???
Looks like the people suffering from the drug war are the ones that are being told by the government it's ok to take these drugs b/c it's legal. It's all about money! The tobacco, alcohol, and pharmaceutical companies have a huge interest in the criminalization of marijuana. Why would a company making aspirin want people to be allowed a natural cure that they could grow in their own homes? Why would an alcohol company want a harm free way for people to unwind after a tough day at work? They don't and they spend millions every year lobbying politicians to keep it illegal.

The list of benefits for medical marijuana goes on and on and I look forward to sharing this with your viewers. Thank You for giving this matter a national spot light as well as giving medical marijuana users and opponents alike a platform to express their views on this matter.
