So, I have been doing A LOT of reading on LED grow lights. I recently stumbled upon some information regarding DIY LED panels.
Using COB LED technology, building my own LED panels is completely within my abilities and at 25% of the cost of a high end manufactured panel.
However, not much, if any, information is given on the performance of a DIY panel. I realize that there are many variables that could affect performance of a DIY panel.
Generally speaking, is a DIY panel using 100W COB LEDs, that produces comparable wattage, grow as effectively as a high end manufactured panel?
For example, in one article I was reading the builder built a panel of quantity 16, 100W Cree COBs, alternating 2700K and 3500K. The COBs were running at, I think between 60% and 65% of rated output, for a total of about 1000W. Will this perform just as well as a high end, manufactured 1000W LED panel?
