DIY Hempy 3-Liter bottle S.O.G. vs something else for 2x2 Micro Grow

So I'm trying to fit as many plants into my 2x2 space as possible, using two 1'x2' trays that rest above a water reservoir. I'm trying to do a perpetual S.O.G.
I'm thinking about using the 3-liter bottles they sell cheap cola in, cutting the top and doing a Hempy grow. Has anyone experimented like this before and know the results?

Why 3 liter bottles and not 1 gallon smart pots? I'm trying to fit in as many plants as possible, but of course within reason.

BTW, I am currently growing in a mixture of soil, coco, and hydroton clay pebbles. Starting off in solo cups and 1 gallon smart pots but I plan to transplant soon if these 3-liters will make more sense!

There are several 2l journals I do mine 6 to a "rack"

Thanks. I think I'll be doing two bins each with 8 2L Hempys glued together, so 16 total! I measured it out and it will fit in my 2x2. Going to attach the bins to my scrog framing and then put a water reservoir underneath to collect everything.
What do you think?
