Detention Officer Arrested

A county detention officer has been arrested in a contraband investigation involving a jail inmate.
Sheriff's deputies say Eddie Daniels was arrested last night when he reported for work at the county jail.

A quarter-ounce of marijuana was found on him as well as three and a-half pounds of loose tobacco and rolling papers, which are contraband at the jail.

A search of the jail also turned up a half-pound of marijuana linked to this investigation.

Daniels was released today on 15-thousand dollars bail.

Investigators believe Daniels made a profit of 5-thousand dollars while working with an inmate, Mark Alan Stacey, who is serving time for forgery, concealing stolen property and escape from a penitentiary. Stacey now also faces drug and contraband accusations.
