The manager of VIP Cannabis, the target of a November federal drug raid, said Wednesday the dispensary is no longer selling medical marijuana, putting it in compliance with a state order. Gerardo Uribe said the doors remain open at 2949 W. Alameda Ave. in Denver during business hours, but no marijuana is being sold. VIP Cannabis was among a group of medical marijuana businesses that were allowed to operate while the state processed their license applications, a process that dragged on for years.

State regulators this month issued notices of denial on the applications from VIP Cannabis and three related grow warehouses, citing after-hours sales, incomplete record-keeping and other violations. State officials also issued an "administrative hold" ordering the business not to sell or transfer marijuana in its possession. The state Marijuana Enforcement Division said the notices were mailed and e-mailed in the middle of last week. VIP Cannabis promoted a marijuana-infused cookie sale on its Facebook page during the weekend. Uribe said Wednesday that VIP has yet to receive the denial or the hold. He said the business is open – but not selling marijuana – out of customer courtesy. "You just don't close the door and disappear," he said. "I have been serving these people for five years and wanted to let them know what was going on," Uribe said.
