The mug shots of three suspects who allegedly tried to rob a Denver medical marijuana dispensary last Wednesday have been released by Denver police who are asking the public's help in locating two of the suspects.
The third suspect, 21-year-old James Leyva, who was "detained" by people in the Healthy Choice Wellness Center, 3005 W. Gill Place, is currently being held at the Denver City Jail for investigation of aggravated robbery.
Leyva's two alleged accomplices are identified as Martin Martinez, 22, and Rene Frias, 29.
The attempted robbery marked the 25th robbery of a medical-marijuana grower or dispensary in Denver since July.
About 10 a.m. Wednesday, two men - one with a pistol and one with an assault rifle - walked in and demanded cash at the medical marijuana center.
One escaped but Leyva went to a hospital after employes at the dispensary jumped him.
Melissa Hernandez told 9News that when the men demanded money, she replied, "Work for it. Get a job. I do."
When one of the men pointed his weapon at the head of her teenage daughter, Hernandez grabbed him.
Her three family members quickly joined the fight with the two men, and shots rang out, but no one was hit.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Martin Martinez and Rene Frias is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
