Deliberate Stunted Clone Run

10/5/23 took clones from Pineapple Kush, CBD Kush, Durban Poison
Kept them barely alive at 64 degrees 40% humidity and PPFD 75.
I was travelling and already dealing with a big run.
I thought about snuffing out my clones but decided to grow them out.
I barely grew them for the last few months.
Pineapple Kush is my own cross from OG Kush x Pineapple Express.
It’s a great smoke and smells like Pineapples.

Pineapple Kush was in bad shape a few days after I transplanted. I had it on the floor and my dog knocked over pot. After I replanted, It was lying on the soil for a day. Thought it was a gonner.
I resuscitated with clear plastic cup dome and kept the humidity up. After about a week it started to come back. Still doesn’t look great but we will see how it grows.
All clones in 1 gallon pots.
Will transplant to 2 or 3 gallon pots eventually

1/14/24 put them in grow room
• 375 PPFD
• 80 degrees F
• 65% humidity
Also placed 2 Pineapple Express and 1 Blue Dream seed in shot glasses of water.
My last run they were all males
1/16/24 planted seeds after small tap roots appeared. Used 3 gallon pots.
Should be interesting

Re-amended soil
28 gallon crate
One cup gypsum, four tablespoons hummus, half a cup of malted barley, one cup alfalfa meal, three tablespoons chicken shit, two tablespoons azomite
3 cups alfalfa

I will use up my Fox farm trio with some KNF and JAdam inputs

1/19 super cropped w 90 degree bend of CBD Kush.
1/19 LST Durban poison bent 2 main branches out laterally. I think it auto topped during stress of slow growing under poor conditions a month ago. I suspect this will turn out for the better. PE Kush is starting to grow a bit.
1/21 CBD is recovering but severe kink in main stem. Will be interesting watching it repair
All seedlings doing okay

Love the work my friend.
You have been busy.
Mind if I come along and watch the action. :yahoo:

noticed aphids on CBD Kush after moving humidifier closer. Manually removed and sprayed w Neem oil. Also changes fan angle for more air movement.

Did you spray everyone?
My experience is they travel. :Namaste:

Thanks Bill. No just that plant was sprayed. Sprayed again today. Found a half dozen still alive but much better. I also put diatomaceous earth around base of all plants. Not sure if that is effective against aphids. I will remain very vigilant in inspections

Good Morning :ciao:
After a few days they will be everywhere in the garden unfortunately. :Namaste:
Spray everyone, every 3 days for an infestation.
Once a week for maintenance and prevention.
I use mosquito dunks for the top of pots.
Keeps bugs out of the soil.

I will spray all tonight. Thanks. Noticed one or two this morning on the main CBD plant and nothing else on Any of the other plants but they are tiny. I did find a few tiny babies too. May try a different spray as well. Glad it is only the CBD. I grow this one for others and don't find it helps me with anything. Using this plant to experiment with training. I plan on upping my game w LST this grow. In past it was mostly all natural grows.

Sprayed the three clones and left the seedlings untouched. I found two or three aphids still alive on my CBD Kush. still haven't found any on the others but now everything sprayed. Otherwise all is looking okay.

I can't find any aphids.
CBD had some yellowing of leaves
Ph of water was too high~ 8.5
I didn't check water I was using to stunt clones and forgot I had ph too high
It's now about 6.3 w 425 ppm
Supercroping or pest spray may have played a role in leaf yellowing
I transplanted all clones into 3 gallon fabric pots. I top dressed with two tablespoons of chicken manure, two tablespoons of kelp meal and mulched with alfalfa.
I watered lightly after transplant and did a bit more LST.
I added Rev growth stimulant (has humic acid) and fish amino acids to watering

That one plant has classic signs of a Potassium shortage.Yellowing starting along the serrated saw-tooth edge of the fingers of the leaves slowly working towards the mid rib will soon turn into completely yellow leaves. High pH of the water slows down the availability of most nutrients so having already reduced it is a good step.

Also when the temperatures are in the lower to mid 60s the plant does not take in as much Potassium as it needs and the deficiency starts to show. Best temperatures are supposed to be in the mid to upper 70s to mid 80s.

I used to have the same sort of look to the leaves when I could not keep the basement room warm enough over the winter. Then when spring was coming, sometime in mid to late February when the sun was warming the basement walls, the new leaves would start looking better.

In my case I found that adding some Kelp Meal or a tea made with Kelp really helps. It can improve the green color but the edges are what they are from now on. All new leaves will look better.

Thanks. Maybe the top dressing with kelp will help. I'll add potassium. A few runs ago I had a potassium deficiency with OG Kush. After transplant she is looking a bit better. I'll take a picture when I get home

It is surprising how much transplanting into a larger container can do for a plant. All of a sudden the root system has some much more it can explore and when the plant can increase its nutrient levels it really seems to explode with new and healthy green leaves.

I used to deliberately put plants into a stunted stage during the winter to keep them from too big while waiting for room in the flowering cabinet or in the flowering tent. Got used to using lower temperatures especially at night, lower light levels, smaller pots of soil , leaf pruning and often holding back on extra nutrients as ways to slow down their growth.

Thanks! That was my goal and I was just wondering if that was causing the potassium deficiency but I figured a little extra potassium won't hurt
They are still under relatively low light with PPFD of about 250 I don't want to blast the adjacent seedlings out too much and my preference is for them to grow at a similar pace to the new seedlings, but I'm sure they will be significantly bigger

1/30 There is yellowing of central portion of leaves of PE Kush. Maybe iron or sulfur deficiency or some lock out. Added 1/8 tsp Mg sulfate and 1 cc of cal mg that has micronutrients. Leaves were praying. Wait and see what happens
2/2/24 Durban Poison continues to thrive. PE Kush (PE OGK) is improving.

2/2

Moved DP PE OGK and PE1 closer to light
Noticed minimal leaf curl on PE 1 moved it slightly further from light
Ppfd
pe1 350
Pe2 450
BD 330
PEOGK 600
DP 600
CBD 465

Seedling ppm was about 500 decreased To 350
Clone ppm 500
Ph ~ 6.3
