DC’s Roaring 20’s Perpetual Garden!

Hey DC! I'll pull up a chair if that's ok. I'm new to Quadline and am loving it so far.

You mentioned that you are using pro mix and want to grow the best quality possible so I must give you the pitch for Doc Buds High Brix Blend of soil amendments and nutrients. I will never use another grow system because it's that good! You will grow the very best quality produce on your 1st try. It's affordable (reach out directly to Doc as I think he can save you $ on shipping to Canada) easy to use with tons of support right on this site, no ph correcting, ppm pens or flushing needed, it's organic and your friends and family with be blown away with the end product! Doc is a sponsor on the site. Here is his site, DOC BUD's HIGH BRIX BLEND and here is his journal where you can see tons of great results including many 1st time users knocking it out of the park, Doc Bud: High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Looking forward to watching your grow progress!

Cheers! :ganjamon:

Hey weenmeoff, I've looked through a few of Docs journals and his program! It looks great but also like a fair bit more of effort and direction following! I kind of like to figure things out a bit on my own and tinker.

Not saying never, but not right now. I like my Promix HP, no smelly teas and compost in the house at the moment and Megacrop is about as easy as it gets in promix. I don't PH either, use my tap water and only mix the same powder in every watering!

Week 1 - Seedling Ranch

Just a quick mid week update! The babies are doing great post surgery! The middle girl busted that membrane no problem on her own, we have 7 bright green sprouts with stalks!

Lesson Learned: man up and bury the seed deep enough! Especially if in an airy soil less medium, or there isn’t enough friction for the seed to run off on the way up.

Stats Update

Light: 30”
Humidity: 40-50%
Daytime Temp: 24C
Nighttime Temp: 18C

I’ve given them all a few drops of 2g/gallon Megacrop enhanced water around the perimeter of the cups. At this stage patience is key. I've been there myself and over loving is the biggest danger to little seedlings. I’m keeping waterings to light splashes to give them what they need but also keep the roots expanding.

Other than light feeds not much to do but Let them settle in for some amazon rainforest like growth to come!

Two questions for you guys on a couple items I have loaded on an Amazon upgrade spree:

1) How beneficial is adding a root growth enhancer like Great White or Mykos at transplant when Promix HP is already Mycorrhizae enhanced? Great White is $37 an ounce or $71 for 4 ounces and Mykos $70 for a 2lb bag. Kinda pricey!

2) Dr.Meter Light Meter - $30 on Amazon. I saw it suggested somewhere as being accurate enough and affordable. It only reads in Lux though where I know LED light must be measured in PPFD. Is it possible to accurately convert?

I have my doubts about mykos being needed in ProMix HP, but since I have some from my soil days I use it on transplant. I never use my tiny tub of Great White any more though. When I did, that was watered in, something you can't do with mykos.

In terms of the Dr Meter, I have the LX1330b, and it works great. Unless you're calculating your Daily Light Intergral, you don't need to work in anything but lux, though if your LEDs are fixed spectrum, there are online converters that will go from lux to PPFD. They don't work with blurples.

I thought as much on the additives. I can easily spend that money elsewhere.

My lights are all Mars Hydro TS edition full spectrum. So Lux is a valid measurement for dialing in light height?

I'll pm you later hold off on buying anything yet

If you ever decide to buy some go with the Charlie Brown Pumpkin Brand

I personally don’t bother adding any extra root hormone in with the promix. Not saying it doesn’t help, I just don’t bother...

the light metre, isn’t needed, not to say it’s not a want, for that, I get. Absolutely. Up to you on the light doo-dad. :thumb:

Oh I know it wasn’t required but the OCD in me was very unhappy guessing light heights. I couldn’t take it any longer!

That Strawberry Cream sounds yummy! Mind if I pull up a chair?

Absolutely all are welcome friend! Buckle up she’s gonna be good!

Week 2 - Lanky Teenage Years

Week two is starting off with a bang! I had a busy weekend with lots going on. After consulting recently awarded JOTM 420 vey @multiVortex based on finding a similar situation in his journal I pulled the trigger on a 100w small heater to keep temps up for the youths. It’s the little red guy in the corner set on low at lights out only. So far so good, thanks for the help bro! USB fan was also added to strengthen those wee stems and my clip on fan is hanging in the outlet on full tilt to keep fresh air pulling in! Humidifier is maintaining 40-60% RH when I don’t forget to fill it up!:lot-o-toke:

With my light meter order I got some more grow bags and they came with labels so the unnamed children no longer have an identity crisis. I haven’t drawn on them for @DrCannaCanadian yet but I will! Fancy new light meter says they are getting about 35k of lux at 30”. I found a few charts and between high end seedling and low end veg I may be a little high but they seem to be okay.

I also finally got my buddy over with his bubble bags! It was super easy to churn out some hash off of just a couple bags on trim!

Bubble Hash

1) Assemble one large micron screen for the plant matter on top, one 75 micron and one 25 micron for the good stuff go around a pails.
Fill with ice, water and product. Hit it with the wife’s egg beater when she’s asleep for 15, 20 while you smoke some of your freshly cured harvest with your ombré:

2) Remove top bag and squeeze out what you can. Put bag with plant matter aside. Carefully pull out second bag (we used 75micron) and drain water back into pail. Scrape the good stuff off the bottom onto a piece of cardboard.

3) Remove last bag very slowly. It will not drain quickly as it’s a fine screen. We used 25 micron. Scrape real good stuff onto cardboard. Repeat process as many times as you still get some. We did it twice and then called it but would have likely gotten a decent batch from a third run.

4) Turn frequently on cardboard until it is dry enough. I let it dry too long and it was a real bitch to scrape off! Enjoy!
