DC’s Roaring 20’s Perpetual Garden!

Hello and welcome 420 growers!!

This is my grow journal for the big year of 2020! It is a perpetual setup I’ve put together with a few upgrades yet to come as my passion for growing developed rapidly after a random exploration into it through a used setup purchased off Kijiji. I quickly became hooked and found a demand for it in my family and circle of friends. My mission is now to put out top tier quality over quantity bud to the best of my ability and see where it takes me!

I am pretty easy going and accept any and all hints tips tricks and advice along the way so feel free to jump in anytime! I check my ego at the door the minute I wake up in the morning, which has led to success in most ventures I have taken in life so no change here!

Ground Zero - Week 1

Ladies we are 6 for 6 but it was no cake walk. 24hrs soak in water to crack em then into peat pucks. 5 of the 6 sprouts with helmets strapped on tight. I suspect I did not bury them deep enough and the Jiffy Puck is quite airy so there wasn’t enough friction to pull them off. After a day of waiting I knew I needed to spring into action. I carefully removed their buckets with tweezers. 24 later and 3 still had not opened up, and one did not look well. In fact the “bulb” was still bent over and glued to the stalk.

I suited up (latex gloves) and re-entered the operating room. Upon closer examination the membranes were still attached and did not look like they planned on going anywhere. I believe if the seed shells had came off naturally as the sprouts were emerging this wouldn’t have been an issue. Manual shell removal may lead to ”membrane-stuck-osis”. Anyway I carefully pinched the stalks between my thumb and pointer and very carefully rubbed the membrane with a tweezer prong until it came loose enough to grab onto it and remove without decapitation. Off came the hoods and an hour or two later I had 6 green babies reaching for the light. Mission Accomplished.

I also dropped a 7th seed, the Blueberry straight into a cup of Promix. Two days later she emerged helmetless and with a barley attached membrane. I think this will be my go to method from here on. No soak unless it’s an old seed, no stupid crumbly jiffy cubes - just into gods dirtless dirt.

After letting them rest for a day I nestled all the peat pucks into cups filled with precharged 2mg/gallon MegaCrop Promix with a bit of stem buried as a few of them were a little tipsy looking - like the yellow taproot looking part was above ground instead of just the fuzzy stalk looking part. Was all of this necessary? Maybe not. But it worked.

Hey @DeeCee112 ,

What an awesome start!!!

I'm thinking those Wonder Woman and Blueberry strains will grow very well.

I'm still wishing I hadn't exchanged my Promix HP for Ocean Forest in my first grow - but I'm into coco now and possibly going to DWC or RDWC in a bit.

Oh - and put two dots under each of the Ws in your WW labels - that way I can remember it's Wonder Woman and not White Widow ;)

Welcome everyone and thanks for coming!

I’ll sketch Gal Gadot on them for ya!

It was a bit of a learning curve on the Promix but I absolutely love it now. It’s like dirt but...not dirty! Perfect for indoor.
