Darkness before flowering

Hey all, Iv heard several different opinions on how many hours you should go TOTAL DARKNESS before going 12/12? iv heard 12...24..and 30...Thanks PRO's

at least 12, some say that 24 or 36 hours would do good, some say it doesn't help at all, i think its strain specific, only some it helps and some it doesn't, at least that's my experience.
