Dark shiny leaves cupping problem: Help!

Hi guys, so its muy first grow in mapito and i am having some trouble. I have a 400w hps.

Let me say i already done some hydro grows buy only in clay Pebbles and never had this issue.

Now, my plants are still young at around 3 weeks into veg, new growth is getting dark shiny leaves and are also cupping. I noticed as well that the really tiny leaves are starting to get purple in the inside... Not all plants are so bad. Some are doing better and in general they are not dark green, only the new growth.

Humidity is around 56 to 60 percent and temps are between 17c and 22c. I didnt Gave too much water as waited for the pots to get light to feed again.

So i am thinking that, maybe the ph in the mapito is not good(altough the runoff is ok at 5.7...), and there is some kind of nutrient deficiency, maybe the light is too close, but the temps are fine... Or lastly and the one i believe the most, that i may have some root problem, since the mapito was soggy for too long, about 2 weeks since the first watering. I now realized that i should have let the seeds get better Root system because they took to long to drink the water in the pots.

What do you guys think about this?

Hey Crazylids,

Welcome to 420... Your crew looks good. Not familiar with mapito but I would expect it needs to be charged or soaked in ph adjusted water to begin with. The cupping can be heat / light stress related - maybe raise your fixture up a few notches. Start a grow journal here at 420 and stay a while.

Your plants are starving, the PH is way off, don't check the runoff, it tells you nothing, check your nutrient mix before you water and adjust PH accordingly...what nutrients are you feeding? Are you giving them cal-mag?

Thank you my friend i will do that! I had the lamp at around 50cm(1.6 feet) from the plants, i now raised it to 70cm(2.3 feet) lets see. Maybe i will follow your advice if i have the time. Appreciate your help.

Hi! Yes i do check ph and ppm before feed. Ppm is around 900 and 5.7ph. Im feeding the full line of canna, including calmag. I use RO water as well. But Im not using full power calmag, Im dosing it about halfway at 0,5ml/l. Maybe i should go to 1ml/l...

Sorry mate i forgot to mention, its ebb and flood so they are all getting the same water since it comes from the tank. I noticed how the ones in the Middle are the most afected so maybe the light was too close?
