Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

OK...first off, I have to say that this particular thread is directly responsible for my modest 1 plant plan turning into a potential 6 plant grow. The shots y'all have posted are amazing. This is such a beautiful plant I had to jump on.

So, it gives me great pleasure to introduce you all to Mazikeen (yes I know I totally ripped that off from the TV show Lucifer, but it was just so fitting I couldnt resist)

Welcome little one. :circle-of-love:

I couldn't be more thrilled that we inspired you Mouser. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart: We warn you, she's an addictive strain to grow.

Time for me to check in. She's at Day 59, growing in an LOS no-till under a new Timber Vero 240. She just got her third application of the tortuous essential oil foliar intended to ramp up trichome production. The jury's still out on whether this is worth it for a short-lived auto.

She smells so amazing it makes my mouth water. A cross between berry and fuel. One I'd not smelled before, and this is my fifth grow of this strain. I'm more present this grow and the soil's on its third run, I believe (can't remember, to be honest) and she's under this new style of LED light, so there's no way of determining what's causing the differences. No complaints from me. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Has anyone grown a dark devil using doc bud's kit? I've got a DD going myself thanks to this thread. Thank you SweetSue for generating this inspiration.

I've been researching high brix lately and I can help but wonder how a dark devil would turn out.

oooooohhhhh she's a thick little demonette!

She is a thick little one isnt she :)

Hmm...after the 1st one sufocated in her helmet, and this one was slow to pop, I tossed the remaining seeds in water....Im pretty sure I will have 3 going this grow :)

i do my own high brix recipes for almost everything. never tried Doc's but it's all about happy soil. happy soil = happy roots = happy plants :)

i highly recommend it :thumb:

I grew two in Doc's soil in my last grow, one in a tiny azalea pot and the other in five gallons. They were under 11/13 down to 10/14 lighting though, so they never reached the potential they could have under more light. Lesson learned there. However, the one in five gallons was a deep, deep purple and looked almost feral in her beauty.

If I wasn't so happy with the arrangement I now have for the DDAs, in the closet under the Timber Vero 240 and in LOS, (my chosen version of a good HB soil) I'd probably try again. As it is, I have sativas that grow best in Doc's soil and only have space for two pots of it, so that's not likely to happen.

I can't help wondering though, what kind of results I'd get giving it a go.

Hiiigghhhhh Sue! The Snowstorm Ultra truly does work! Im really likin this threat! Stay green! (Or dark!) Hahaha :volcano-smiley:

Nice atulip !

Wow! Let me second that. :high-five: Atulip, what do you think made the biggest difference that allowed you to get better results from a more limited root space?

Oh my first one I overfed and she was stunted. Less than 12" in a 5gallon smartpot. She was also topped very late, I think topping her pretty early would do well based on the structure. Still produced an ounce though. But she had an entire square foot of space and didn't use it.

I went with the 2gallon because the root structure I saw on the 5gallon was smaller than a 2gallon sized pot. Another reason was I finished my photoperiod grow in 9 plant 2 gallon SOG in the same space, with full sized 3' plants. Figured I'd give it a go with autos. Let's me cram 9 plants where I had 4 before. And the perpetual design makes better use of lighting, I'm 600-850par over the whole canopy and have 4 seedlings in the corners getting 400-500par. They'll veg there and I have an overflow 5th in another tent that will replace these 5 flowering, then 5 more seedlings planted.

I'm moving to some 3-4gallon DIY 8-9" square fabric pots. I'm seeing great results and full sized autos in them so far. I think 3gallons is the sweet spot for most autos. I'm a fan of cramming too many plants in my space, I've got another tent full of hacked up autos trying to fit in there little 8-9" square space. :D

This is stunning. That colour is just, wow :circle-of-love:

why thank you Mr A :)

the pics are mostly original with little touch up. mostly contrast adjustments. i like to keep it as real as possible. the phone seems better at it than the camera oddly enough.

I always use my phone for pics, no editing. I snap lots, choose the best and upload them. I need more DD in my life, might have to pop a bean soon.

Gypsy...... You've been holding out on us. :laughtwo: Dang, she's a purty one, isn't she?

Our leader has asked us to spread the word of a new photo contest. I can think of a few that should be contenders. Kushtie, I'm thinking of you, mister.

420 Magazine's 420 Photo Contest On 4/20

yeah my veg tent got out of control again with all the auto fever

i'm really happy with her. small pot, no special anything.. some high brix tea and a microbe tea and that's about it. she's taught me a lot about her so the next go should be interesting :)

DD isn't really one to judge ripeness by the trichomes is she? they look really milky and full. no amber yet, but i would say she could harvest if there was more swelling in the flowers. i'm just hoping the seeds mature.. they should. they've been going for about a week and there's a few more weeks left. i know i can seed photo's in 3 weeks. i suppose auto's may be a little quicker.. haha! new strain nerves! :bitingnails: may have to go for a reboot walk around the building lol :smokin2:
