Cutting broken branches?

So I obviously didn't get everything tied up before the winds started and a few branches are broken off (just hanging by a thread!)and they aren't quite ready, only about 50% has turned brown...will cutting off the broken branches harm the rest of the plant or can I just get the broken ones off and leave the rest of it for a couple more weeks without messing up the whole plant..

just cut them with a sharp knife and everything will be ok
