Coming Along...QT's update

Just wanted to say I am back though some what limited. I am still on my first grow but am in the begiining of my 6th week of flowering. I have also started a second grow with which I will be using BPN products. I won't be able to get the journal going til I get my internet up and running. Shooting for next month.

Since I have been gone the plants finally showed sex. I had 4 girls and 2 males. The males had to go though I did keep one around until after he flowered. And one female I actually snapped in half when I was trying to tie her down. The remaing 3 are Droopy, Pinky, and Sookie. They are coming along and I am seeing the fruit of my labor of love. I got my microscope and have already been checking out trichomes!

And I think I finally got my enviroment right. The ladies are now in 3 gallon pots with some FFOF soil. I got a ph tester, couldn't wait to try it out. They all read neutral which I am hoping is a good thing. Also got a thermometer that also tells the humidity. I hope I finally got enough lights. I bought more over the past few days. I now have a grand total of 9 23w and 1 13w cfls. It is much brighter and I hope will make a difference.

I have been taking pics since I have been away. I will post them tomorrow. I also have had my nose in JC's Growing Bible. I love it! And it answers most any question I have had so far. Just wanted to say hello and that I am almost back.

All hail the Queen.....been a minute .....glad to have you back at :420:...the girls sound good...I'm Hippy you are back.... :riskybusiness:

Just lost my post, damn! Not gonna retype everything just gonna post the pics. OH wow, I can't seem to use my Blackberry to post pics for some reason. I guess it will have to wait til next month when I get my internet back on..But they are posted in my gallery if anyone wants to take a look. I think they are showing a little bit better. Using digicam and BB for pics.

Anyhoo, I think the girls are coming along great though they are not bushy. They kinda remind me of the Xmas tree on Charlie Brown...lol..Not sure if my lights are perfect but has noticed quite a change in the girls since using all 23w. I did price an HID screw in bulb at the garden store. It is on my wish list for now. I also got my jars for curing. I pretty much think I am good to go.

Ialso got some cloning gel but am a bit nervous about doing it. It can be done in soil right? And is it too late to try to clone Pinky. She's the stinky one! I have noticed that droopy does not like a lot of water and the others are always dry. Guessing this could be due to lightening. I do have them close to plants but not enough to burn them. Trying to get light to the lower buds so I move the pots around from time to time too.

I guess that is it for now...

Hey queen what going on.....?.. Are you worried about taking clones now?...wow ummm I took clones from a plant that was 4 weeks into flower and it took forever to stop flowering, stress out, start rooting, and reveg....it took 3-4 to get a new leaf...besides didnt you say you already had a 2nd and 3rd grow going on?....how many do you want to have going?.....and how much space do you have...more plants=more space, lighting, nutes, water, patience, and so on and so on.....as far as watering just simply let them dry out.... They will be fine.. I get a droopy girl here and there every week...once watered they climb back aboard in like an hour....just gotta be watching for your times that's all....

Well Vince..I have the 3 ladies in flowering. I also have like 7 sprouts going but only 3 look like they might make it. I have them on 12/12 cause I remember someone else was doing that on here. I think some of the problem is I am seeing little black flying bugs. I think they came along with the FF soil. I didn't see them before I transplanted. I have been putting down vinegar and caught some. There is a home recipe in the Growers Bible that is made up of hot sauce, garlic, and lemon juice but didn't know if I should spray in dirt or on leaves. I didn't know if I should try to clone any since they are on their 6th week and where would I cut since most of the stems have bud on them. But not trying to clone right this minute but when I get some good seeds.

My concern at the moment is how much water to give them since they are now in 3 gallon pots with better soil. Due to lights top is drying out fast but soil underneath is still staying moist. With the sprouts I have been just spraying the top dirt daily and nothing else. With the ladies, I have been giving them a cup of water sometimes a cup and a half but hardly sees much drainage just a little. And have been giving them molasses but OMG that stuff stinks after awhile, is it still good when it reeks?

Ha yah... Molasses does stink ... And are they gnats?.. Gosh I had them my entire first grow...horrible..."They didn't stop until I chop"...ha.....they most likely came in my first batch of soil as well..who knows....As far as the sprays you are mostly going to treat the soil top and lower, very lower part of her....if you had spidermites it would be different....:ciao:

Um ok Vince..Does that mean I have to take plant out to reach bottom of soil? I have been using vinegar which has been catching some of them. Not sure if gnats just little black bugs with wings is all I can tell you. I know they came from FF soil because I did not have them with other soil. I shake the ladies then they get pissed and bite me..And what bug spray would you suggest?

Well let's see....I've tried them all ....all the remedies...all the solutions...and I have a spray by safer brand 3-1....worked best for me...along with catching, swatting, crushing, slapping, vacuuming, chasing (I heard them mocking me..I swear), sweating, swearing, arms flailing as well....seem to have worked...than I harvested and boom now they are gone.....ha...No love just spray your top layer of soil...I would recommend pulling out an inch of soil to disgard it....and then replace with fresh soil....I had a great thread on gnats a few months ago that has many remedies to read through...it's in the FAQ section...called gnats, gnats, gnats....hope this helps...:ciao:

Ha ha, you got jokes Vince! I have done everything you mentioned, swatting, cursing, picking them off the girls. It seems like they get stuck on them so I pull them off. I even shake the girls a lil to get them off then try to kill them. They seem to like being on Pinky the most guess cause she is the stinkiest of them all. But has also notice that they seem to run rampant on some of my seedlings to the point that they seem to be killing them. I have 7 seedlings but only 4 seem to be survivng their attacks. And I have been taking hits for team green with bites on my forehead like I got my ass handed to me in a boxing match! At the moment I am still using vinegar to lure them in til I can get spray. But these bastards have to go! I hope by harvest they will be gone! Btw, have you checked out my pics in photo gallery?

Thanks Dadums, checked out links but could not see faqs on how to use. Internet is down and using my Blackberry at the moment. So you place dunks in water around the plants? I don't think infestation is really bad just don't want them there and wondering where the hell they came from. Did I buy a bad bag of soil or is this just one of those things that happens? I am using FFOF. Oh well 2 tears in a bucket...I live to learn!

I've had fungus gnat issues...mosquito dunks work great!!! also use Yellow sticky cards to trap and catch the Adult ones that fly around your canopy.. I usually place mine right on the soil of my pots because fungus gnats are terrible flyer's and usually stay low around the soil....

You can also try an all natural pest deterrant that I've used and works pretty well....Mix up hot boiling water with 2 peppermint tea bags, 1 cigarette, 10ml of neem oil and a few drops of habenero hot sauce.... spray this on the plants and soil right before your lights go out for the evening....will help keep pest's at bay...just don't spray your plant's during flowering..... if your in flowering, just spray the soil...*where the fungus gnats breed)

I also found out that a clothes steamer works great to kill the eggs and larvae in the soil.....it takes a lot of time but kills 100% of them within the first 2inches of soil.... Fungus gnats have a 30 day life cycle from egg to adult and may take a while to fully get rid of....there a pain in the Bud to deal with and one adult can lay hundreds of eggs within minutes....

Also make sure your soil dry's out fully between watering, will help to control the population of larvae...

Thanks for the info, Ice. I don't have a steam thingy or the other stuff. Cervantes grow book has a concotion that consists of garlic, hot sauce, and lemon juice. I am gonna try that in the soil since my babies are in flowering. Then when I get paid I will buy the spray and mosquito dunks. Input is much appreciated!

Thanks for the added info,dadums..I tried a homemade recipe out of Cervantes Grow Bible on one of the ladies today... Gonna see how that works out....

Well after doing some visual research I found out that one of the girls was actually an Indica. Checked my calander and saw I am on week 7. Since Indica flower between 6-8 weeks, figured it wouldn't hurt to harvest her. I did check the trichs and some were milky and some clear...So I guess you know what time it was..CHOP! Because I didn't top and pretty much got my nutes late in the grow I was not expecting a great yield. No scale but by eyeballin I think I got a qt out of her. There was some bottom buds so I quick dried it in the oven. Didn't feel nothing at first then BAM, a real heady high that lasted a few hours and made me get the munchies!

The other 2 should be ready for harvest around the first week of Nov! Though the yield was small, I am still happy! Will post pic in my gallery if ya wanna take a look. *Dueces*

Hey queen!!!!! What's goin on ..you know you could have let her go another 1-3 weeks I'm sure...you need to look for those trich's to start turning amber before yah chop that next one....she be at peak once they start turning color.... Hope this helps....:riskybusiness:

Well Cervantes says you can harvest when Trichs are milky with a lil clear. Plus I read on here I think 6-8 wks for Indica. It was quite heady and for Sativa 10-16 wKs. With the other two thought I am gonna wait for them to turn amber to see how I like that high. I will say the heady high is good for gaming!!! But see what happens when ya neglect ya pupil! Lol
