Relax. Welcome to Colorado, where you can legally buy marijuana. With the passing of Amendment 64 in 2012, adults 21 or older in Colorado can legally possess one ounce of marijuana or THC - and as of last month, tourists can now possess up to an ounce (28 grams) of cannabis. (Previously, tourists were restricted to 7 grams.)
Wait. Don't consume marijuana openly in public. Violators will be issued a ticket.
Not worth it. Don't drive high. Colorado's DUI law sets a legal limit for the amount of active THC in the system while driving. The legal limit is 5 nanograms per milliliter of blood. If police suspect you are driving stoned, they can require you take a blood test. Refusal can result in similar penalties as refusing a breathalyzer test, such as loss of license.

Most dispensaries in Boulder close before 7 p.m. Two are open until just before 10 p.m.: Green Tree Medicinals, 5565 Arapahoe Ave., and Karing Kind, 5854 Rawhide Court. Shoppers usually need to make the last purchase before 9:45 p.m.
Karing Kind owner Dylan Donaldson said the shop is prepared for an influx of visitors to Boulder for the pair of Dead & Company shows. Donaldson said that new users of cannabis should "start slow and take low dosages - especially when it comes to edibles. You can always take more, but you can never take less."
Donaldson also cautioned against using in public or places that ban cannabis, and do not sneak it home over state lines.
But while in Colorado, might as well experience a Rocky Mountain High.
"For a big show like this, I'd recommend a sativa or sativa-dominant hybrid.," said Donaldson. "Sativas are a little more uplifting, energetic and happy. You'll want something that will get you going for a show."
Donaldson said dispensary staff is available to answer any questions - including new technologies that users may not be familiar with, like edibles, vape pens and concentrates.
